On the other hand, Richardson is shooting at 36% right now and that's just obscene and unsustainable (though I love him as a pick up).
i think there are a lot of coaches in the nhl drawing a BIG target on richardson's back right now... he'd better watch himself against the goons

and you say you pick him up? ;)

i think tortorella actually coaches!! imagine...

the canucks were like an unmanned ship at sea under vignault - and he pulled the wool over all our eyes. i thought we wre in for shit when they let him go - but i watch him now and he's nothing but a VERY expensive but disinterested observer
Vigneault has historically had the most undisciplined teams in the league (always top 5 in PIMs) because he lets players police themselves. He's a passive coach who is brilliant when it comes to zone utilization but he needs an incredibly skilled team in order to execute his system. Rick Nash and Lundqvist are just simply not enough to make it work. He's also known for alienating players by calling them out in the media before actually addressing issues with them (Hodgson, Kesler). He's a great tactician and would be a brilliant assistant coach but he's so bad at in game adjustment that it really holds him back as a HC.

Hey, Richie is a little bit of Hollywood. He's a pretty good looking man.

He's always been a solid player, he was actually a big contributor in LA's cup run. Why they kept Fraser over him is absolutely baffling.

Actually the Canucks are #1 in posession this year, despite average FO numbers. I like math.
OMG. You know your hockey. Why aren't you in Vancouver??? We could go catch a couple of games for sure.

Anyways. Yes. Shooting pct in the teens is what we want to see. I think the Puck-possession pct is skewed by the Sedins being on PK. As well as a pretty aggressive 4th line of late. I haven't checked the Puck-possession times on PP, but as far as what I've seen it's improved too. Somehow the nukkies have solved the Possession problem without solving the FO issue.

I'm not sure if Hank or Daniel's shooting Pct was that great in the past (I'll have to check) but definitely they weren't at Wellwood levels. Some guys just have that ability to thread shots. The PP might just need that "puck luck" of having a guy getting to the rebound first. Let's see how they do tonight.

Hah! Bottom 5 in PP opportunities even without Burrows on ice for a quite few games. To be expected though... (conspiracy theories and all)

Absolutely. That really didn't work to the nuks favour.

Sedins on the PK has actually helped their possession numbers as they're not sitting out for 2-5 minutes at a time waiting for an offensive zone face off while the team is killing penalties. Henrik has really elevated his all around game this year, I cannot believe people don't consider him to be a top 10 player.

The Leafs have a horseshoe stuffed in their ass. They're being out shot every game, have the worst possession in the league and their shooting percentage as a team is like 30%.

Just wait until the inevitable game 40 meltdown. Good times.

I'm fairly confident this will resolve itself once the injured depth comes back.
Hopefully the depth players step up and make us a full three or four line team so other coaches can't match lines on the twins/Kesler line.

Santorelli has 2pts tonight. That's cheap scoring depth.

We are playing amazing for the 5th game in 7 nights.

This Santorelli kid, what an under-the-radar pickup that was. I watched him play up here for Vernon for a couple of seasons and always thought he was a pro-style player. Coming back to B.C., I thought he might thrive, and he has done that and more. Obviously a great fit for him with a coach of Italian descent, maybe Mrs. Torts is cooking the kid up some great pasta dishes. At any rate, Torts has gotta be an early favourite for the Jack Adams Award. So happy for him after he resurrected the Rangers after that mess of a team he inherited from Renney and then gets the shaft a few years later. Love my Rangers tons, but I'm not unhappy at all about the way this is playing out. It looks good on Sather as well as that moronic owner Jimmy Dolan. The sooner Sather is out, the sooner NYR can start the long road back to respectability.

Agreed, my initial statement was about the top line playing 27+ minutes a game with the other lines playing about 20 minutes or less. Torts is known to run his top line constantly. I was saying its early in the season and doing 27+ minutes in April are two very different things.

Props to Santorelli - he is playing like he is gonna stay with Nucks all year.

You guys are missing a few key points.

1- It's only the beginning of the season. Things change.

2. Their winning record has been built on falling behind and getting fluke goals. How long can that be a winning strategy?

3. Kesler WILL get injured.

4. The Sedins will burn out with the long minutes they're getting. Burn out just whe the playoffs start like they always do.

5. Booth & Kassian = useless.

6. If Luongo goes down Lack hasn't shown he's that good.

7. The shot-blocking strategy is going to result in a lot more injuries.

8. Odd-man rushes seem to be a constant. Rarely end well.

9. This might be one of those season where the road record is better than the home record. Just a feeling.

10. My curse is still in place.

I don't know:confused: There doing pretty good for a team that's missing 5 guys from their line up.
