TOP 5 NHL Players you do not want to win the cup

After seeing Paul Kariya signing with the Nashville, I have to vent off some steam.

1. Eric Lindros, made a huge joke out of the NHL draft and the NHL league. Day before the draft, he held and "emergency" press meeting. There he stated that he would never play for Quebec, and several other teams as well. A reporter asked him what makes him so great to dictate where he can go....Lindros response "well you're here (at my press meeting)".

2. Paul Kariya, he made over 60 million with Anaheim, and when the team couldn't offer a qualifying offer (he was making over 10 million a year, and Anaheim needs to increase it by 10 percent….can you blame them)….he jolted to Colorado, and asked for only a million and change. Furthermore, he held out when he was under contract, b/c Joe Sakic was making more ( the 21 million contract).

3. Jeremy Roenick, best of my knowledge…he never won the cup, and I hope he doesn’t.

4 Petr Neved, he defected his country, and shows no appreciation to the Canucks organization, or Canada, the country that took him in.

5 Pavel Bure Canucks had to do a lot of paper work so that he could play in the NHL, and I’m glad he is going to retire (I hope) with no cup…..serves him right.

I'm sure there is more, and fellow Perbs will add to this list......be nice to everyone's opinion.

Cheers

Why take only a million...surely he could've gotten more...
was his intention to win a cup?

I never understand how some players of various sports would rather screw their current teams chances by going somewhere else where a few more dollars are paid.

What would I rather have 40 years later, a Stanley Cup, Superbowl Ring(s) or an extra million or 3 that I blew on stupid cars and lame duck business investments. (or divorce settlements)

People still don't seem to get it ... professional sports is a business, from the point of view of both the players and the ownership. From the players' perspective, there is no loyalty to your current team and when a player moves on to another team, he isn't concerned about whether or not he's perceived as "screwing" the team he left. He's made what he (or his agent) considered to be a wise business decision for him. As for thinking 40 years into the future, most professional athletes haven't even entertained the thought of what will happen when they can no longer compete in their sport, never mind what they'll be thinking/doing 40 years down the road.

Lindros

The only thing I like about Lindros is that he was KO'd not once, but twice, by a guy my size: Scott Stevens....who has won the Stanley Cup, btw.

Lindros is a big whiny bitch. Pavel is a gangster at heart too and is buddy buddy with the President of Belarus who is the last true dictator in Europe. Fuck Pavel as well.

On a more positive note, wasn't it great Ray Bourque got a cup? There's someone who really deserved it!

Perhaps someone should start a thread about good players they would like to see win a cup who haven't already.

He's already been there too many times, starting with the 86 Canadiens. Best game of that series was Brian Skrudland scoring the game winner against the Flames in Calgary right off the openning face-off in o.t. :)

I don't think the Leafs is gonna do much this year......most NHL teams improved a lot, while Toronto had to sit on the side lines and watch. John Ferguson is probably on the top 5 list of the worst GM (Washington being number one, they’ve done nothing so far, and have a lot of room on the cap side) with the new CBA. The Nolan mess, and not buying Ed Belford out, (and maybe McCabe) Now Ferguson lost Joe Nieuwendyk and Gary Roberts b/c he wanted to play poker with there contracts….and Ferguson lost.

It will be fun watching the Leafs between now and Oct 4th, a lot of holes need to be filled and they only have 11 players under contract at 31.5 million……hmmmm, that leave them with just 7 million to sign 9 to 11 players…..Yes, Ferguson has Sundin, but he has little support (except for Domi protecting him).

If Ferguson has any tricks up his sleeves, he better use them quick.

Cheers

1. Eric Lindros
Anyone remember when he was known as "The Next One" before Sidney Crosby came along?

2. Jeremy Roenick
Yes, he's a dick. Although I admit that it's refreshing to listen to an NHLer who doesn't spout off the same boring hockey cliches like some automaton. I hope he takes over Coaches Corner once Don Cherry is put out to pasture.

3. Anyone who plays for the Leafs.
Because if they do win the Cup then the victory parade will be broadcast from coast-to-coast and the rest of Canada will never hear the end of it.

4. Anyone who plays for the Flames.
I am sorry, Julia, but it's a prerequisite for Oilers fans to hate on the Flames.

5. Anyone who plays for the Flyers.
Bobby Clarke may have been a great player but he sucks as a manager.

After more than a decade, any Canadian team wins, we're gonna hear it coast-to-coast for a while. And fans in that city will be smug as hell. Doesn't matter who it is.

Face it, sports fans are no more gracious in victory than they are in defeat.
