Im utterly and totally shocked LL is not on this list with their 95% fake photos/ads :ROFLMAO:

Not shocked Crypto is on this list. The article is vague, the video has some more detail. From FB Marketplace to Craigslist to all the bs on social media comment sections, scams are everywhere even if not directly targeting you. And in this hobby it's no different. I get some places use fake photos as to hide identity for the provider but most that do usually post a close approximation while many others just use stolen pics as a more truer form of B&S. Im not ashamed to admit I've been scammed a few times in my younger days by the fake photos/ads. And despite how hot the photos look on an ad today, I do my due diligence. You live and you learn.

With the hundreds of millions of dollars and the amount of light shined on scams today there are so many people still getting taken. Does it say more about the people scamming or getting scammed? Or is it just so lucrative. Say what you will about CBC News as a whole their Marketplace has done a really good job of exposing scams from not just foul actors but large companies.

Great summary but there are lots of variations. My neighbor got taken for $15K in a " We need your help in catching an untrustworthy bank employee, scam." have you watched Tinder Swindler yet? Unbelievable that these people can still get away with it. Thanks for the post. Serves as a timely reminder to all.

Saw about 45 minutes of"tinder swindler"and stopped. I was thinking to myself that I didn't know if I should have any sympathy for the morons getting scammed or not.
Are people really that stupid?

I get the unauthorized eBay/Amazon calls regularly, your social insurance number has been deactivated, warrants are out for your arrest, it’s quite mind blowing really. I can see how new immigrants could be taken, some of these sound quite convincing and they are local numbers at times. I no longer respond to fuck with them, it seems you get even more if you do that.

It looks like it. Humans are always ready to see the best in everything and want to help. Just don't do it with your money. Or do it with money you can afford to lose (eg stock market etc). Investing has its own risks.

If giving to a Charity, check it out first from reputable businesses/people and at that more than 3 persons. Use common sense. It if is too good to be true (has a awesome return), chances its a scam.

As people get older, people seem to get more isolated from mainstream society. Some one can really take advantage of aging seniors and it happens all the time.
