Long time since I've posted...
...but the total lack of respect displayed by some in this thread is so unbelievable I had to throw in my two cents. I'm not here to debate the current going rate. I would, however, like to point out that our mothers would be very dissapointed in us for partaking in such a hobby. Let's not further embarrass them by forgetting what they tried to drum into our heads' from a very early age: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
"Pray do tell us as to where you expect to make this kind of money per hour other than on your backs..."
I don't care whether you're a rig pig, a doctor or anything in between; I'll guarantee you that no matter how hard you think your job is, an SP's is harder. While I don't doubt the sincerity of SPs that claim to enjoy their work, I doubt very seriously that many would want their children to follow in their footsteps. Their's is a job that is not only dangerous (mentally and physically), there's no job security provided, no unemployment insurance to draw from and no health benefits to pay for prescriptions. And now not only do they need to endure scorn and preconceived notions by uninformed, "respectable" members of the general public, they are now subjected to belittlement and contempt by those within their own community.
I don't care whether an SP is working her way through school, is the sole bread winner for her family or even doing whatever she can to support a crippling drug habit (an affliction I think a very small percentage of SPs actually suffer from), these women, like any other woman, deserve respect. By making comments like the above, you display your immaturity and insecurity for the world to see. By partaking in their services while questioning their worth, you only label yourself a hypocrite.
