So the first thing 1st world countries do is sell arms to 3rd world countries. We let them slaughter one another for control of the resources.... Dictators and slaves..... Instead of propping the people up, we the 1st worlders let them tear themselves apart.
But in the Western World their is slavery too; just under a different guise. You pay taxes, land, income, sales tax and many other taxes. Many are slaves to banks under mortgages, loans etc... Alot of these things are done in the name of civilization, but there are always Masters and slaves..... Nobody is free, even if the system proclaims that they are. There are social, economic and cultural reasons why, you just have to step outside and observe it.
Tonight on the news (CTV), the top 26 riches people have as much money as 3.8 billion people (about 1/2 world population).
In the video, Rifken says he has consulted with European, German, and Chinese governments on his economic theory. It falls under the current Chinese government philosophy. China is the largest economy in the world, by 2050 it will outpace the US by 3 times.
In the 1970 Canada's shipbuilding industries started drying up. Japan was on the rise. In the 1990 it was South Korea that was building the ships. The US has laws that say it ships has to be build in the US. The biggest scrap metal producer that recycles steel is India (cheap labour). Canada can barely manage to build new warships every 20 years (that's being kind).
Rifken talks about the 1 industrial revolution, (1820- onward), and the 2nd industrial revolution (1920 onward). The first IR deals with steam printing press (first mass media communication) and coal power. The second deals with the telephone and oil. The beginning of the 3rd industrial revolution is about the internet/smart phones and renewable energy. Apps on phones make you more productive. You can transfer lots of data over your phone. You need energy to run your phone. Most people use computers to work on. He talks about every building producing its own energy, tie it into a digital grid for distribution of electrical energy. The more sources of energy the cheaper the energy will be (law of supply and demand).
The material Rifken is presenting is valid, the world has to go that way he envisions, because of environmental factors that are running out of humanity's control due to the pollution given off by coal and oil, creating greenhouse gases every time we burn oil, gas, propane, for heat or for engine that does work for us.
Industrialist don't like government control because it cost them profit. It cost them the infrastructure to put pollution controls for manufacturing sites (to clean the air, water and toxic materials left behind). So in the 70s those big companies in the states went overseas to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, because of cheaper labour rates and lack of environmental controls. The companies that base their manufacturing overseas are making easier profits than ones that produce in the US...
So the people that are nay-sayers to this 3rd industrial revolution, come back with "climate change fear mongers", or that's communist. Look at the facts, look at the world and see how its being affected by pollution. Go to a town that has a pulp mill, and breath that fresh air... Best yet go to Sudbury On and breath that shitty air from nickel production. (Every body knows the story on Sudbury on how it smelt in the city, what did they do, they built the smoke stack 100 ft high so the smog came down outside the city limits... and even farther on windy days)... Jared Diamond in one of his books (Collapse) stated that the rich have the money to move away from a polluted area, but the majority of the poor don't have that choice (using a town in Colorado/Montana??). Workers at Manufacturers and Mining places don't turn in their employers for fear of being fired when the company is breaking environmental laws. Alot of this came from the 50,60, 70 when there were company towns (companies that employed the whole town) and if you went against the company you were blacklisted.
Every day in Canada its Federal laws on pollution are being broken. Nobody does anything about it.... Until the law is observed and the people responsible go to jail and fined, only then will our environment be better off. Canada is relativity clean compared to the rest of the cess-pools in the world (mainly due to our large size). Remember Acid rain (sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides producing acids in water) from coal plants, oops its still happening but at lower levels due to lower limits of sulphur in coal and finer particle of coal when ignited (better more efficient combustion), and leaving less waste material.... still produces CO2 tho....
Every one can agree renewable energies are the logical way to go. Why shouldn't the average consumer get in on producing their own free energy at home....and get paid for it, and a return on an investment.
