Time for me to walk off this board.

I'm letting crap here bug me, which means I'm spending too much time here. Time to take a walk, do something else with my time.

Maybe I'll be back in a few weeks, maybe not.

Either way, it's been fun. There are a lot of good people here, and by no means is anyone specifically to blame for the desire to take a break.

Re: To 'go-walk-about' ...

If there were a King of Perberbians ... in the best interest of his village ... 'go-walk-about' would be a manditory ritual for each young warrior. There is a value in adversity ... when one encounters obstruction, the important thing is to reflect on how best to deal with it. Await ... stay still for some moments ... ask for peace within one's territory ... pursue gradual effects in small matters ... and enjoy the beautiful evenings!

Enjoy a peaceful walk G39 ... we look forward to the 'story-book' of your return.

:)
Squirrel gets the reasoning without it having been explained. It's not individuals or arguments leading to the walkabout, but a personal choice to rebalance 'net and life.

Take care, y'all!

I don't find TERB any better (or worse) than PERB, although personally I prefer the western Canadian emphasis here (and big welcome to hobbiests from all over who care to share in that vibe). I do have a big problem with yet another example of centric thinking (Hogtown is the centre of the universe). Thank goddess that we have guys and gals here who don't think that Canada stops at the Ontario border. Reading the other recent threads about how terbites think they are better than perberts really reminded me why I moved to the west coast from Toronto. There are hip folks on TERB but frankly what I've read from some of the terbites sucks ass.
(Damned addictive board! I shudder to think of the withdrawal after a few days!)

On the flip side, why is it that we in Western Canada have such an inferiority complex that we cannot handle comparison with the US or central Canada without resorting to labelling suggestions as centric or know-it-all? Would it not be better to explain the "why" of differences, and maybe try to change the dissenting poster's opinion?

(*ahh -- smacking inner elbow and pulling out the 'net cable. *ERB -- that's some smooth shit, dude!)

Western Canada's feelings towards central Canada is more resentment than an inferiority complex. We already know we are superior to Central Canada thats why B.C. and Alberta are two of the fastest growing provinces in Canada. Unfortunately we are also two of the most grossly under-represented provinces in parliament.

As for an inferiority complex it seems like a group of Terbites likes to get their shots in towards the US on a daily basis.

PERB at least has some intellectual depth

Youre kidding right? This is the shallow end of the pool buddy. No offense, but intellectual it aint. I get a kick out of the bros, squirrels, rodents, snake charmers alike, but a discourse on the social relevance and free thinking isnt really on the menu here.
Why engage in discourse on social relevance and free thinking when you can just be socially relevant and think freely?

There are a lot of issues here, if you just let yourself see.
