LADY-VIA
GOODMORNING LADIES AND GENTS, I have a boat and I would very much appreciate some tips or help on where I should turn to in order to help get her all fixed up again as she is in rough shape but i think with a little care she will look fabulous...
So since I was a little girl I have always love sailboats, and Ive been collecting I guess you would call them models ? statues ? I dont know just boats.. I have quite a few now and recently I picked up a couple more.
I went to the flea market on terminal avenue a couple weekends ago, a trip I very much enjoyed as I love antiques, or treasures as I call them, and I frequent garage sales and diferent flea markets looking for theses treasures.. This is something I grew up doing since I was a little girl with my parents and still very much appreciate this history behind all the items I pick up..
At the flea market I ended up chatting with this remarkable 90 year old lady, who you would never in you wildest dreams believe she was actually 90 at all, seriously I was shocked.. I actually asked her what her secret was, and if it was all the " sex, drugs and rock and roll "
She got little smirky smile and her face and said it was lots of number 1.
I find elderly people so delightful to talk to as they have lived through so much and I really enjoy hearing their stories.. So clearlly I struck gold and found the perfect table at the flea market as she was actually the original owner of all of the items on her table. I was drawn to her & wanted to know all the stories behind the items, so there I stayed and hovered for quite some time and picked up a few things from her including, a very old carving knife set she said was from the 40s and one of her purses that actually has the date on it from the 50s, and I picked up a sail boat..
I believe this sail boat is brass ?? or possibly copper ? Im not completely sure and Im tying to wrack my brain and remember what my parents told me as this is the first larger brass/copper piece I have picked up on my own, but can I shine it up ? or is it better to leave it as is ? I think I might give it to them as I know they would reallly like it too and Im sure ill get it back one day
Ive got cups and candle holders and other randoms in storage but i think this boat is really pretty and it should be on a mantle or something ..
SO THATS THE STORY BEHIND BOAT NUMBER ONE
I will add the photo here after as I need to upload it off my phone..

Now on to boat number two. There isnt much of a story behind her besides the fact that I went for a walk late one evening, and I found her in a back alley, clearly waiting for the garbage man, or her next chapter in life.. I coulnt belive my eyes as it was such a sad sight... The sail boat is quite large and solid wood. I can picture what she might have looked like at one time, and I think shes beautiful, so obviously I took her home and out of the threatening rain that was called for that night.. Who ever put her in the alley also put the broken pieces in a zip lock bag so my guess is that the owner was hoping someone like me would find her and want to restore her which is exaclty what I plan on doing.. Problem ?? no clue where to start..
The sailboat is on a stand, although there is nothing in writing anywhere so I don't now how old it is or anything.. and Im guessing a hobby store might be able to give me some information, a speciallty hobby store???? I realize its going to take a bit of work, but Im excited about the outcome once shes done.
I will post photos in a minute

any advice would be nice, or if you have seen one of the second boats and know anything about it, I would love to hear what you know
thank you

ps -- the cob webs have be cleaned off of her.. i thook those pictures when I first brought her home... She's had a nice wipe down clean, but sandly sits broken. My guess is she was in a garage or some storage place that had moisture as it looks like the wood and paint have a bit of moisture damage, be that the very least of the problems here..
