It all very sad. For the drug addicts... and for the society that know the victims personally its tragic and very sad... so much potential...

About a year ago I had a conversation with a friend and he mentioned the drug crisis and said that maybe someone was putting the fetanyl in with the other drugs in order to make them overdose.... that is criminal and barbaric.

In Ontario an pharmacist was arrested for selling fetanyl out of his store. So does the same happen here in BC? Maybe...

the thing with drugs is that there are always new customers that come along.... so a few dying is par for the course... unhuman it is....

The sad thing is many addicts do not want to get clean, they will use govt funded residences etc whatever they can get their hands on to their advantage so they can do drugs. The John Vloken Society in Surrey is a residential rehab facitlity that will even job train you in a number of different diciplins. They are bringing in addicts from international locations because they cant fill the programs, addicts do not want to commit 2 years to a rehab program. After $5000 is paid the whole thing is free, seems like a no brainer for govt services to screen and recruit people to this program. The former owner of United Furniture Warhouse put up 50 million dollars of his own money to build and run this facility yet its never been full.

I've spoken to ex opioid addicts and coming off the stuff feels like your bones are being scraped and it's horrible withdrawals so they just keep doing it, cause they are already depressed and down enough, imagine having to overcome the withdrawals are even worse. These, in reality, are our own families, our neighbours families. There people we grew up and laughed with in elementary and high schools... your teachers even... no one is immune to this dependency and as we know, not all addicts are street people, some had been prescribed things, some may be people who were on meds for whatever as a child and they get caught with an addiction after years of dependency.

There is no limitations to how this situation is effecting each and every one of us... I've been in edmonton and seen a lot here as well, it is everywhere. The most people who OD are people who think they are getting cocaine but they get fentanyl probably from someone who is street level, and laced with fent and carfent...and they are usually going to college or working class and do not use regularly, or they get sober and fall off the wagon and OD... The hard addicts may OD but they get brought back...cause they are on ground zero and usually with help nearby. Or they have a tolerance.

imo the dealers should be shot and pissed on zero remorse anymore... the justice system is corrupt to the highest level and does support the larger drug kingpins... they really do not impose harsh sentences at all, 1 yr max for fentanyl large quantities... Canadas justice system is a total joke... Here is the most recent example of a drug smuggler of us-canada-south america getting off easy time and time again... killing our society! There are many more and higher criminals out there who have gotten off even lighter with copious amounts of fentanyl and many times it's some "technicality"... maybe one day their guns will suffer a "technicality" and they can really start doing their jobs...

I agree. I feel sorry for those addicted to hard drugs though I don't trust them, (so I avoid "party" girls). On the other hand, the dealers all know they're just killing people for money, so they can go hang, literally.

Think about why the Govt isn't doing a damn thing about the problem.

They and the pharmaceutical companies got people addicted to OxyContin and Percocet then suddenly removed them from the marketplace because of the addictive nature of the drugs. Problem is the users are still addicted to these opioids. Naturally the addicts had to find replacements so they turned to street drugs.

Fentanyl is used in hospitals as a short term sedative prior to anesthesia. Perfectly legal and legit in hospitals. Then dealers I suppose got ahold of it and mixed it with other narcotics to give the addicts the fix they need.

When those drugs where promoted to the Doctors...its sales line was that they worked just as good, but they had no addictive side effects....so the Doctors believed the drug companies sales people and promoted them.
Of course that was completely false....it is still used for labour pains in women about to give birth, as a quick short term pain solution, because they claim it has no affect on the unborn child........which I question.

Low paying agriculture jobs?
FFS.....there's plenty of high paying agriculture jobs, which is one of my pet peeves when dumb-ass fuck faces point the finger at the producer for high food prices.
The guy working in processing plants makes a hell of a good wage, and has benefits on top of it.
There was a time not so long ago that those people where in fact making more than I was....and he doesn't even own the product, or have to raise it up for a year and a half, with all the risk.
Everybody thinks if the farms stop producing domestic product, it would be tough for a year on our economy....they never take into consideration the hundreds of thousands of high paying jobs that will be lost, if there's no product to process.
Low paying agriculture jobs my ass.....all the low paid people that harvest produce from the fields aren't even Canadian, because they are all after the processing jobs, with benefits.
Fuck, even the lowest rung on the ladder, a Chicken Catcher makes 30 to 45 an hour and has full benefits.

What's scary here, actually totally outrageous, goes way beyond deadly fentanyl and carfentanyl circulating in the community that you live in. Referring here to one of the three branches of Canadian government, the judiciary that is isolated and protected from the mainstream of Canadian existence and allowed to make rules for everybody else based totally on sets of documents presented by another isolated and protected body, the police. So here you are. First you've had your real economy ruined by a bunch of sociopaths. Because you don't actually support yourself now, you're left feeling worthless enough to start using addictive heroin and cocaine and join armed street gangs because you know that there's no worthwhile career waiting if you finish school beyond personal debt and selling products for a foreign corporation. From there the same sociopaths that ruined your economy don't care about deadly fentanyl and carfentanyl getting into your heroin and cocaine because you've dared to disobey their rules. I'd suggest that the Canadian judiciary feels quite adamant about that since in using addictive heroin and cocaine you've abrogated your career serving up the fruits of somebody else's labour. Totally agree LalaniElectrica.

I know a former heroin addict ( perhaps there really is no such thing as a former addict) who had her best friend die (of an overdose of course) and self medicated with street heroin which, of course, as we all know, is now a large percentage fentanyl. She only used for a few days and when she stopped, she said despite only using for such a short time, it was absolute hell coming off. So what you said, about getting off with this new version of heroin, is extremely difficult. And people generally start using because of some mental health problem, often depression. Getting off drugs is likely impossible until the issues that caused the mental health problems are identified and resolved. Which is likely very difficult when you are using. A wicked circle of pain that often leads to death.

I left out above when I quoted your post the part about the courts and political system because I am not knowledgeable on that part of it. Though it would not surprise me to find out what you wrote is true.

The more synthetic an opiate is, the longer and more brutal the withdrawal is. I got clean before fentanyl flooded the market. As a former addict I can attest the depression can last years. That shit screws with your brain chemicals, it takes a very long time to feel normal again. Antidepressants can only do so much. I found running helped a lot. I used to run 6-7 days a week to keep my moods up. The endorphins from runners high are what helped me get off the last bit of methadone and stay clean.

I can only imagine what all the fillers added to this shit are doing to people. Back in the day when someone had an opiate overdose, it often scared them into getting clean, at least for a time. Now there's users ODing up to several times a day. This shit isn't just highly addictive, it's making people stupid.
