These people need to be put on a world wide no fly list for life.
Sue the fucker for the cost of landing, fuel, and all the vacations he ruined.

They should just keep him in jail without possibility of bail until his next court appearance on March 9th.,
and then sentence him to at least 45 days in jail.
That jerk screwed up the plans of over 200 passengers and their families.

Or better yet, actually get a few years in the slammer with a big fine. I can’t recall an incident in Canada where anyone was heavily penalized for in flight antics, but it’s not uncommon to get a month or two jail sentence for simply being aggressive/drunken disturbances where the flight must land. This wasn’t a simple error in judgement, he was basically terrorizing his fellow passengers and ruining everyone’s day-not to mention the huge losses for the airline.

I think he should be sent to the affected part of China and make sure he gets in contact with one of the infected people.

This is why we have laws people. Sheesh, in Canada we don’t hang people by their balls or send them into contageous zones as retribution. I understand the emotional sentiment, but those eye-for-an-eye practices have no place in a developed peace-loving country such as ours. Our legal system will deal with this miscreant as passenger safety infractions are taken seriously. Maybe there is mental illness involved—who knows at this point. I am not saying to go soft on an idiot that disrupts many peoples’ lives, but I feel it is un-Canadian to recommend human turture as a remedy for wrong-doing. We don’t need to regress to the middle ages for justice. We need to progress as an effective, just, and merciful society.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that alcohol was involved. I haven’t heard one way or another but I know a few friends that have had issues on flights all because of alcohol.

He should be classed as a dangerous offender. Jail time and put on no fly list and a travel ban.

He should get classed Indeterminate Sentence for Dangerous Offenders
Indeterminate means that the offender's term of imprisonment does not have an end date. The Parole Board of Canada reviews the case after seven years and every two years after that.

there isn't, he's an attention seeking whore

he's done it before

he thinks he's a performer, supposedly travels there for "work"

he should be sued into bankruptcy, banned from travel by the airline

I wonder if airlines can blacklist him based on his public statements, conviction or guilty plea aside. Very much the norm to get a month or two in jail for a drunken disturbance forcing a plane to land in Canada, but I personally think this is far worse and calls for hefty criminal and civil judgements.

Airlines have to pay a gate fee every time they use airport facilities, runways, gates, ground service crews, etc, easily into thousands of dollars.
There is also fuel costs for the flight that went nowhere, and the cost of another flight for all the other passengers.
The airline has probably banned him for life already. Hopefully they go after him for every penny he cost them.

I couldn't care less why he did it. He is an adult and ruined hundreds of people's holidays.

Just to be clear, fuck him, no compassion.
