I have bought bottles of water many times, but never in Canada.

Wait, I take that back. In some remote parts of BC, where years ago I'd just have dipped drinking water out of the nearest creek, girardia ("beaver fever") is a problem these days. I've had it once, acquired from drinking "pristine" creek water way back in the middle of nowhere. Don't need that experience again. So when travelling in parts of BC, I carry bottled water, for use when I don't have time or facilities to boil water.
