Here are the places I always take my out-of-town guests:

1. Grouse Mountain - If you like a challenge, hike up the 2.9 km (1 km elevation gain) "Nature's Stairmaster," aka the Grouse Grind. If not, pay $35 to take the SkyRide gondola. Check out the various attractions up top, then hit the patio at Altitudes Bistro for casual, reasonably-priced and decent food with a great view. Secret tip: look around for people wearing season's passes around their necks and strike up conversation with them. They can get you up the SkyRide for 1/2 price.

2. Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge - not to be confused with the over-hyped, over-priced tourist trap that is the Capilano Suspension Bridge. If it's a hot day, the swimming hole is absolutely not to be missed.

3. Drive the Sea-to-Sky highway up to Squamish (45-60 min drive) and have lunch or drinks at the Howe Sound Inn in downtown Squamish.

4. Granville Island - neat little place with a huge food market and a ton of artisan shops. From downtown, walk to the Aquabus terminal and take the little boats across.

5. English Bay / Sea wall / Stanley Park / Aquarium - check out the beach then walk or bike the sea wall from English Bay around the park (9 km). Bike rentals are available along Denman Street. The Aquarium is an absolute must-see.

6. UBC / Wreck Beach - as noted by previous posters, clothing optional. Sunsets at Wreck Beach are stunning.

7. Casa Gelato (at Clark & Venables) - sample many of their 238(?) flavours as possible before plunking down $5-8 for your selection of 1-3 scoops.

Have fun! This is a great city with lots to do and see. :)

For clubs I would recommend Republic on Granville street or Pop Opera. They are usually pretty bumping and good vibes all around and lots of GIRLS!!

Tea on Cookies with Hubba and Granny!

Definately, when you want to really have a blast, stop by Hubba's place.

It's near Commercial and 12th, in a little run-down house owned by his Granny!

Ya, it's creepy, yet sweet in a sad way...we all know...

Tea and Cookies will be in order to start. Then Hubba will show you his amazing BC Lions collectibles estimated at $289 (Although, purchased for $17,650). Next, Granny will break-out the Hubba picture album. It's pretty incredible stuff, especially seeing the section where he hits puberty at 28!

I won't ruin the rest for you, but you might leave being sore for a few days... :D

Having a beer at the Dufferin Hotel
Long gone Dude. It's now one of Vancouver's best restaurants and wine bars. Cibo and Uva wine bar. And before you start accusing me of being gay for knowing about wine bars..... Ah what's the use. I don't give a rat's ass if you think I'm gay.

Yogen Fruz. This stuff is amazing.
Still trying to figure out what this is. hehe.

So far on my extrodinary adventure of Vancouver.

Went to a micro. Should have saved my money.

I have walked along the waterside down to the park, beautiful. Walked back along Robson down Grandville and over to Yaletown. Had mussels at Rodney's, yummy and met very friendly people. Drank too much and weaved up to gastown, stopped at number 5 orange. Drank more, but was fun. Again met friendly people (you people saying Vancouver is unfriendly are crazy :p). Didn't waste money with private dances, but had fun. Staggered back toward my hotel down E. Hastings. Very interesting street at 11 pm. Really did some walking today.

Also, sat in meetings for most of the daytime. Boring. :(

Tomorrow is a new day for adventure.

Any other ideas for good food. I love sushi, but Tojo's looks a little fancy for my taste. I can afford it, but I am a more casual guy. Rodney's in Yaletown was wonderful. That is more my style of a place. I would really like some good crab too while I am here. Back in the midwest I don't get much good seafood.

I am sore tonight from all that walking. I need a massage.

Don't be Fooled!

Again met friendly people (you people saying Vancouver is unfriendly are crazy :p).
Don't be fooled, if you meet anyone from the Pacific Northwest in the months of July and/or August, they will appear "friendly". This is an illusion.
In fact, it is because the sun is out... with the effect on the general populace much like a temporary release of a life- prisoner, from solitary to the courtyard for the obligatory hour.

Should you visit after the eight days of summer, you will get the correct impression.
However, if after getting the correct, broad sampling, you then continue to operate from the former false impression, expecting more of the same, you may get mauled in yor ignorance.

I am told this is true of Londoners.
- And a Danish girlfriend I had in Hong Kong described the same conditions for Copenhagen.

If you are still here, don't miss the sunset view - (both the day view and and after dark, night panorama, are superb) - from Grouse mountain. Maybe gondolas seem too 'touristy', but this is worth it. Take advantage of the bar and/or the excellent restaurant up top.

If you are fit, hike the grueling steep trail up, and ride the tram down. If you hike, imagine the race they have up all those thousand stairs...

If you go in the daytime, or make a day of it, there are great walks in the upper meadows - without having to have done the "Grouse Grind", which the tram bypasses for you.

Will definately check out the sunset on the mountain. Probably not ready for that walk up yet. Maybe next time.

Anyone ever bungie jump near Whistler? I am thinking of doing that on Friday. I have always wanted to bungie jump. Now that I am pretty thin I can physically do it.

I like to hit up Shijo's for sushi and watch the women sweating it up accross the street in the gym while i eat. Makes it that much more enjoyable. (4th in kits)

Wow, I should have called JessikaXXX last night.

Anyway, not a bad evening. Tsunami sushi, pretty dang good. Walked along the seawall again. Vancouver is so full of beautiful people. Out of my league, but beautiful none the less. I got to meet the wonderful Vanesssa yesterday. Once in a lifetime women. Smart and beautiful. She will not be around long, someone smart will marry her and steal her away. Today I my back was hurting, so I had a massage this afternoon from Lisa (downtown) and late this evening Lolo (also downtown). Both were good massages, Lisa was a little too hard, imo. I would repeat with Lola.

I spent a couple hours at the Roxy real late. I am too shy for that scene, but it was busy. Quite a few wonderful looking ladies there, but the guy to girl ratio was pretty poor.

Finished the night at the penthouse strip club. I think I saw a few of the most beautiful strippers I have ever seen there. I did not waste money on the private dances. Outside the strip club there were a few street girls. I talked to one for a bit. Her name was "Leggs", she was a tall one that is for sure. Pretty hot for a street girl too. She was also pretty expensive for the street. She said her rates were 200 to 400 depending on the service. I was too drunk for actually messing around, nor did I have my car. I have been walking everywhere downtown.

I am such a light weight now that I am thinner. Four Smirrnoff Ices and I am staggering back to the hotel. Please forgive any rambling, spelling or grammer mistakes as I am pretty buzzed as I type this.

Goodnight and my excellent Vancouver saga will continue........ PM me if anyone wants any more details about the women mentioned.

Absolutely plan on writing the reviews, just need some time to make them coherent and without alcohol on board. hehe. That last part is the biggest problem this week it seems. :D

Two of the best restaurants in the city are located in Hamilton St. in Yaletown, namely: Blue Water Cafe and Cioppino's. Favorite hangout of celebrities, corporate players, and politicians. Talented chefs, superb service, great menu, and an impeccable wine list.

While the Vongerichten's Market at the Shangrila Hotel is the new in place to see and be seen. The arrival of world famous chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten in Vancouver has put the city into the world culinary map.

I just wanted to finish up this thread with a big thank you to everyone. I had a great time in Vancouver. You are all so lucky to have such great places and people. I have posted all my sp exploits on the review board. What a week.

Food wise, I really really loved Rodney's down in Yaletown.
