I've worn plenty of leather off a saddle tree, but I'll put on my chaps and pick up my saddle with a broken hand...limp over to my horse, throw it across his back, while he takes a half hearted hateful kick at me....And thank God for it every time.

The above applies to the majority of people who run their own businesses or work as independent contractors. I have friends who work as writers, musicians, freelance public relations professionals, and make up artists, and all have the same struggles.

I do think sex workers deserve more legal protections than we currently receive, and I do think sex work is markedly different from other types of service work (primarily due to social stigma), but I feel the need to speak up when people say things like "get a real job." Escorting is a real job.

I'm probably in a very small minority or totally on my own with my opinion on this...for me personally, this is way too intimate of a service to be deemed real work or taxable. Might sound crazy but that's what I've always believed, I've never changed my opinion on it since I started doing it, and still don't feel different. There are probably others who feel the same but I doubt they would speak up. I think of the compensation as more of a gift or donation or a trade, and it's up to the recipient if they want to declare taxes on it.

This service is unlike any other, what other type of work involves having your most private body parts being penetrated, with skin to skin contact and exchange of fluids (& mutual pleasure...mutual most of the time hopefully :p) & in addition to putting on a performance of acting like a girlfriend and great hostess etc (and now therapist according to the OP)? And prostate exams and pap tests don't count, patients don't get paid for that (unless it's a research experiment)...but seriously? maybe I'm wrong but please enlighten me :) give me some funny and interesting ideas to think about guys...

I don't know if this is the right spot ,if not mods please move

I am new to this ,but have seen a few young ladies . There is a couple of things they say that are defiant no repeat for me.

#1 Wish I could afford to buy ----- but I have no money

#2 I sure would like to have one of those ----- my size is ---

#3 I don't do that when they said when texting it is on the menu.

When they get $$+ per hr I do not want to hear there problems when there expenses get to $.8 a hr then they can see what problems are.
We all have expenses but I want to relax and enjoy my self not hear there problems ,they should listen to my woes .
A lot of the guys have already said things somewhat similar to me. However, the first thing I thought of when I read your post this morning was:

"We've had some great times over the years but I have decided to retire and won't be seeing you anymore".

This still rings in my ears, I still think about her periodically and I wish her well in whatever she is doing and wherever she is living etc. It just reminds me that this whole hobby is temporary and you will have some awesome women go through your life that are like rock stars in the bedroom.

Ahh BBB, it's so sweet, you showing your romantic side again.

Sorry could not resist. One day it happens to me and I won't be joking. This is very true though, you can easily dismiss a girl you don't care about, and you won't hear her silliness again. It's much worse to hear from the one you care about when she says farewell.

(snip)As Caramel pointed out, it isn't like we work 40 hours a week at $200/hr.(snip)
True, but when she makes it all undeclared and tax free she might as well be.
Sorry, but people who cheat the system can also take advantage of it and it only adds to the tax burden of those of us who are required to file and pay taxes. Most of us don't have the option of deciding whether or not to do so.

As Canadian citizens we are ALL required to pay taxes. CRA doesn't care how we earn our money; they care that we remit. Some of us do recognize too that taxation represents our contribution to a stronger social safety net, better hospitals & highways...Nobody has the option to pay them; some people just choose to ignore their obligation! Am I prepared to divulge which side of that line I fall on? Not unless you're my accountant.

Hope you didn't misunderstand my post. I was referring to this one by Caramel:

And there are some ladies (more so in the US) who advertise that the payment is for their time and companionship, and whatever activities happen to take place during that time are those of freely consenting adults... etc. So, we are paying for the time spent a bit like you pay for how long your accountant works on your taxes, rather than a % of the taxes saved. Those very intimate services, therefore, were not what was paid for in the financial transaction.

We can all complain about the taxes and how inefficient the government is, but I'm also grateful for all of the services we do receive that are provided as a result of those taxes. And I'd rather not be a total freeloader on the system but make a contribution to the cost of those services. I also remember a time when the level of taxes was much higher than we typically pay now.

I agree but I think there should be a yearly review based on your use of said services.

One column for services used. Legal, fire, education, health care, split on security, infrastructure, admin, etc
Then a column for taxes paid.
It might be interesting for people to see the balance sheet. I think people might be shocked as to what thy use and what they get. It might be clean that this that pay the least use the most.

Just a thought.

Too bad I don't have a choice about paying for your healthcare.
Or your police/fire/paramedics.
Or your welfare, old age pension, clean drinking water...
Or the many other taxpayer funded services you think you should get for free.

Alberta had annual notices for amounts spent on healthcare at one time.
That would be a real shocker for some. A few xrays or an MRI add up, and a heart attack costs tens of thousands to treat.
But because they don't get a bill most people don't think it matters.

Yea that is the sad part. Everyone thinks its free for health care. Or for the police to show up or for the teacher to teach or the social work to deal with their case. If people just knew how many services they used you might see less waste and better use of the services.
