You sure are high and mighty for a guy who can't keep his livestock off the road I'm sure if someone had been killed in the vehicle that hit your cow you'd be on here complaining about them as well.
Sybian's reply to this post was spot on, but I can't resist pointing out that, when driving through rangeland, or anywhere outside our familiar territory, we really really have to respect the folks who live there. When driving on a backroad in Mexico, one stops for chickens on the road, because those chickens belong to someone who lives there. When driving through rangeland here in BC, one takes care not to harm the cattle, or to put it another way, the livelihood, of those who live there. That would seem to be common courtesy, but humans being what we are, the government has had to legislate the rights of rangeland users.
I'm pretty sure that when Sybian works up the nerve to brave the traffic of Vancouver, he makes an effort to avoid running into poodles and parked cars. Different place, same principle.
Myself I love meandering around on backroads in B.C. When cattle slow me down, I'm more amused than anything else. I once drove at cattle pace for half an hour behind a herd being moved along a narrow back road. The folks herding the cattle had nowhere to move them off the road. As soon as they had a chance, they pushed the cattle out of my way. Courtesy both ways. It's wonderful thing.
