So the Blue Jays have been on a roll and the band wagon is filling up next weekends home games are all ready sold out! All the excitement with the new players is creating a huge buzz. What's everyone think is this the year the BlueJays make the playoffs?

I'm still on the KC Royals bandwagon from last year. They could of should of finished it last year.
Of course the odds are pretty freaking good the SF Giants do it again and win it every year.

The Jays look for real, the management went all in this year getting Price and Tulowitzki. The pitching is improved and defence looks solid and the offence is leading all of baseball, exciting time in Hogtown.

Finally, somebody says something about the Blue Jay's. Since the end of last season they have been slowly, quietly preparing themselves for the American League pennant race this year. This might be their year, as they are truly loaded.

But for me, the season ended last winter when Josh Donaldson was traded to the BJ's. And they have been rebuilding ever since. looks very good for them right now, IMHO.

Now, on the same topic, baseball, I have this question: Has anybody read "Up, Up, and away...." by Jonah Keri? It was published last year, so the writer had plenty of time to reflect on the demise of the Expo's. I learned so much about that team that I never knew, mainly because as an A's fan (shedding a few tears here), I followed the American league, often reading very little about the NL. It was nice to learn that their demise follows a very similar path that the A's have been on for so many years: lack of money, little fan support except when certain teans are in town, a terrible ballpark, no civic involvement. but maybe Olympic stadium is not quite as bad as the O,co, where the A's play. This is the only park where a team shares the stadium with an NFL team. For this reason it is considered a very pitcher friendly because of so much foul territory. Many games can be very low scoring, which I prefer, but that does not attract too many casual fans.

Having been to hundreds of baseball games in my many years, the most interesting player I have ever watched came from the Expo's, but I only got to watch him when he went to the Angels.

You could have fooled me on this. Last I remember, the Giants win it every other year, and this is an odd number year, so wait until next year.

If the Jays bats can stay hot (or at least productive) and the pitching staff remains solid, the Jays will win the AL. Their lineup is too strong not to, even with just above average pitching. A Jays/Cardnials Series is my pick as of today.

Every year the Giants won the World Series they have failed to make the playoffs the next season. As of now they are on the outside looking in again.

I went to Seattle to watch the Jays just b4 the trades, they only won 1 out 3. Not only did they add Tulo and Price they got Hawkins, Revere and Lowe. In that series Lowe looked very good, his debut with Jays wasn't good but he should still fit in. These games against the Yankees are crucial.

Today's ballgame in the Bronx is a great example how th BJ's have improved due to recent trades. Shockingly, the former Mariner Justin Smoak, led the scoring with a grand slam. David Price goes 7 innings and the Jay's win 6-0 in a shutout. Tulo contributes an RBI. Things are looking very rosey for Canada's only team, finally after quite a long drought.

Although if you had to ask me to pic a guy to hit a grand slam Smoak may not be my first choice he is a 20 HR man in the past he has the tools just needs the playing time. If we could get a little more Minonori Kawasaki this run would be perfect ;)

The Expos were my team that was sad when we lost Vlad Guerrero to the Angels. The Raiders are my NFL team so I feel your pain about the crap stadium and sharing with another sport. But things in Oakland may not get better for our teams for a long time if ever

The Expos are the reason why I root for the Nationals in the NL.

I was in Toronto during the World Series wins in 1992 and 1993.
What a rush! Particularly against those full-of-themselves Braves.

I'd love to see them win it all again. Why not a Canadian team?

That is why I used the word "shockingly" when referring to Smoak's G.S. And I was also surprised to learn that that Grand Slam was the first ever by a BJ player at Yankee Stadium.

If the season were to end right now, Toronto would be hosting the one game, do or die, wild card game. But, by the end of the season I expect the Jays to be in first place, thereby ending the longest drought in MLB for any team currently to have not been to the post season.

Someone please correct me on that, but it is hard to believe that they won it all in 92' and 93' and that has been it. Then in 94' the Expo's probably got denied a chance to play for it all. Very long douught for Canadian baseball. Let's hope it ends here.

I,too, enjoyed the Up,Up,and Away read on the Expos.and, Mike, having been to both places, the Big Owe in Mtl is worse, what a crapahola of a stadium.

AL Wild Card race is just that, wild.8 teams within 4.5 games.Makes me wonder if the Tigers bailed too soon, being on contention for a WC spot?

come October, pitching rules, and the Jays can't trot out Price every day, dunno if the rest of the rotation can do the job.

KC should go deep,at least to ALCS,came close last yr,if not for Baumgarner(sp?) Royals win WS.

hard to see anyone beat the Cards in the NL.

as for Jays being "Canada's Team", lots of Westcoasters like the M's or teams based in California.
there is also the anti-anything-from-Toronto element to consider.

I hope they do well, they're on a tear right now.

Let's give a shout out to the NYY. They scored one run Friday night in the first inning, and no more for the next 26 innings. Does it get any better than that? For me, no. You might say I am a late jumper onto the band wagon for the Jays, but for the next few days I must take a time out on that and go for the other side.

My Oakland A's are in Toronto for three games. So, that is still where my heart lies. Not sure how many of you are aware of this, but the A's have the worst record in the AL, yet they have the top pitching staff in the league when it comes to ERA,. Not sure how that happens, but it does.

So, that leads to a most interesting series, the best hitting AL team (Jays) against the best pitching team.

But after this series ends, I will once again be pulling for the Jays.

10 reasons why the Blue Jays are unbeatable:

http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/p...asons-the-blue-jays-look-unbeatable-right-now

But, then what does ESPN know about it since many of their writers pick the Mariners to go all the way, or at the very least win the AL West.

This series with the A's marks Brett Lawrie's return to Canada.
I am surprised how fast this all worked out for them. After the trade deadline people thought they should be able to make the wildcard, but the Yanks were too far ahead.

They will be deadly in the wildcard game if that's where they end up. Price with the Jays lineup has to be the deadliest one game combo in baseball right now.
