Finally, somebody says something about the Blue Jay's. Since the end of last season they have been slowly, quietly preparing themselves for the American League pennant race this year. This might be their year, as they are truly loaded.
But for me, the season ended last winter when Josh Donaldson was traded to the BJ's. And they have been rebuilding ever since. looks very good for them right now, IMHO.
Now, on the same topic, baseball, I have this question: Has anybody read "Up, Up, and away...." by Jonah Keri? It was published last year, so the writer had plenty of time to reflect on the demise of the Expo's. I learned so much about that team that I never knew, mainly because as an A's fan (shedding a few tears here), I followed the American league, often reading very little about the NL. It was nice to learn that their demise follows a very similar path that the A's have been on for so many years: lack of money, little fan support except when certain teans are in town, a terrible ballpark, no civic involvement. but maybe Olympic stadium is not quite as bad as the O,co, where the A's play. This is the only park where a team shares the stadium with an NFL team. For this reason it is considered a very pitcher friendly because of so much foul territory. Many games can be very low scoring, which I prefer, but that does not attract too many casual fans.
Having been to hundreds of baseball games in my many years, the most interesting player I have ever watched came from the Expo's, but I only got to watch him when he went to the Angels.
