Congratulations to all the athletes. Yes, the Olympics is rife with political overtones. But it still is a great spectacle.

There was a special moment of sportsmanship, where the USA runner was tripped by another runner but instead of screaming, there an apology and the runners finished together side by side last.

I'm a big fan of the Olympics Winter and Summer....but this one just seemed forced with the state of Covid and the fact there were even protests by Japanese locals where it took place. But as the days went on, i was sucked in as usual by the power of sport and sportsmanship and national pride.
Hightlights:
Canadian women rocking it early 2/3 of the olympics, all our medals were coming from the female side, girl power!
Canadian men pulling up at the end with amazing performances on the track with Degrasse and Warner!
and just like the Golden Goal by Crosby in 2010, it was Grosso (hometown girl!) who finishes it off with her penalty kick to get the Gold.

Yes, we still can't compare with the powerhouses like USA and China, but I'm still damn proud of our athletes :)

Yeah, I'm a total sucker for the Olympics, and spent far too much time watching them the last two weeks. It's good they only come around every two years! Of course if they were more frequent I probably wouldn't care as much.

Still, a part of me is glad to get my life back! :)

I like the Olympics, definitely, and this had to be the weirdest one ever. Of course, the big powers dump a ton of resources into out-doing each other, and it gets ugly sometimes. but that superpower medal tally stuff misses the point.

If you ask me what my favourite general thing about the Olympics is, it is actually the "parade of nations" in the opening ceremony - it's not an event, but you get to see all these athletes from the forgotten corners of the world, sometimes with teams so tiny they could fit inside one car. The big powers may shrug at all the medals they get with their huge sports machines, but for some of these countries, having any participants at all is a special thing and winning any medal would make them national heroes forever.

Second favourite thing is perking my eyes up at some of the Olympic hotties out here. (Yeah, we're all just animals.)

For our team this Olympics, I have to say the sweetest thing was seeing the women's soccer team avenge the travesty of 2012, and then win the gold medal on top of it. Christine Sinclair is assured a place in valhalla.

And thank God they are. I lost my taste for them years ago after all the stories of corruption and grift started coming out. Plus I don't give 2 shits about sports so yeah...buh bye!

I am amazed at the advances in Broadcast technology. 4K picture quality, Digital 5.1 surround, Lenses with a zoom raio of 110/1` all LED lighting in the Stadiums and 1800 drones with LEDs on them for a light show in th closing ceremonies'. And yes there are some pretty HOT women at the Olympics.

I always enjoy Olympics. Thanks for adding beach volleyball to the list of competitions. I have always been a fan of volleyball anyways. It was great to watch US womens team. Those tall, beautiful, nice looking ladies leaping high over the net. (Andrea Drews  ) The best part is to see them huggle (huddle and hug)after every point.
Also great to see Canadian guys AND GIRLS do well.

I am a big big fan of athletics as well. You have to admire the hard work and dedications these people put in.
I hope COVID is gone by summer of 2024.
