so many times we bitch about what we don't like or who pissed us off in daily life. and then we post about what humors or amuses us. well, i'm posting about something positive that rivals sex.

so for those that workout i've come up with almost the perfect workout (i say almost because it's only perfect until your body adapts to it).

lately i've been training the whole body 3x per week (that's nothing new, i just put a twist into certain exercies to maximize results) with only compound movements and each workout lasts about 70 minutes. i don't lift weights for anybody but me, but it's nice to watch the gym stop and watch when i lift my best. for 70 minutes i am in my own world. for 70 minutes i am the king of the jungle. for 70 minutes nothing stops me. for 70 minutes i don't hear a thing except my training partner. for 70 minutes i go thru the pain that most are afraid of because i know this routine is paying off. and when it's all said and done i feel like a million bucks. and it's better than sex.

what's your perfect workout?

I have pretty much the same routine, just six times a week and will soon go to double work outs with Cardio in the am, weights later in the day.

Everything gets blocked out, my work, my family and so on. It is my time and I do it for myself. Every one needs to have "Their Time". This is my way.

Enjoy whatever your time consists of.

My perfect workout is in the early mornings. At that time, only firemen, some humble cops, varsity team members and those who really have it together from a good night of sleep and nothing on their conscience are present. We face the day feeding our energies first before expending ourselves on the demands of others. We have a mission, day-to-day. We acknowledge each other's presence because we feel a kinship as to why we are there and what we did or did not do the night before and the days before that gave us the energy to get there once again this early morning. We're not there to create huge bodies, but to build physical strength, and we're there to reinforce who we are. Some of us are much older than others, and we accept that aging is part of life and that the aim of lifting weights is not for freezing an unpreservable youth.

The 'roid monsters are the ones who work out at night, they're absent in the mornings. Their drugs eventually overtake their body's natural rhythms and prevent them from rising early on a consistent basis. So are the ones who the posers, and the ones who are there to show off to everyone else just what a big guy they are - their focus is completely on the surface so they don't have the internal strength to get themselves out of bed. The ones who make the big sounds while lifting, and the ones who are constantly comparing the amount of weight they press against others are also absent. All of them abdicate the mornings to us for lack of internal strength.

wow, that's alot of dislike for those who don't share your lifestyle in the gym. to each their own, and i don't think it's a lack of internal strength that keeps people out of the gym in the morning - lack of strength keeps you out of the gym.....period. getting to the gym in itself shows strength, but i don't think just showing up is much of a victory, showing up and training hard irregardless of time of day is a much greater victory.

yes, i agree that it takes a higher level of discipline to get up in the morning, but with that said i don't think anybody who trains in the mornings should have the "i am holier than thou" mindset. actually nobody in the gym should, and that includes the "roid monsters" because in the end the only person who cares what time you showed up, how much you lifted, or what your bodyfat % is yourself.

gbm, that wasn't a knock against just you. but your words did remind me of my dad (who's probably much older than you) and his views. hell some of my best workouts were at 5:30 am with him but life goes on and now my boy comes first.

gardian angel, i don't know if you've already competed but if you haven't good luck. the sacrifice on family time and other personal goals is one of the reasons i've never competed and probably never will.

Thanks for your well wishes, The nice thing about it is my daughter is in the competition too so we help each other cooking and working out.

She inspired me to try after I saw what she did last year.

My perfect workout...

is the Annual Army and Navy Shoe Sale. Intense cardio running to get to your size rack and all the strength training lifting the baskets and then the bags afterwards. Of course, I've stretched and warmed up before the doors open.;)

You've got a kid? Ok, my apologies. I understand.
