Despite having a "no soliciting" sign on my door three days last week, yesterday and then again today my doorbell has rung between 1830 - 1930. Answered it twice last week and then tonight and each time its been some lowlife motherfuck douche bag piece of detritus wanting to either sell me some shit or are a paid canvasser for a charity.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they're hitting the streets at this time because people are at home usually eating dinner. Now I live alone so its not like I'm leaving the wife and rodents at the table while I answer the door, but still I want to eat my fucking meal in peace. What really frosts my ass is that when I've told these dinks I was in the middle of dinner they didn't catch the hint and still went on with their spiel

Unfortunately for the charities involved I've started to keep a list and going forward they won't be getting either any direct or indirect (when donating to the United Way I'm going to have them excluded) contributions.

As for the legislation, if a home owner is disturbed (at any time of the day) they should have the legal right to kick the offending party square in the crotch!

I've been disturrbed, too, but it usually doesn't make me that crazy (unless I'm home sick and have to crawl out of bed). It doesn't take much more than a polite, "No Thanks" and I close the door. Many, many years ago I was a door to door salesman and it was/is an extremely difficult way to earn a living. Anyone ever see the movie about the handicapped d-t-d salesman in Oregon? It starred Felicity Huffman's husband (name is eluding me). Some people have no other options. Same for telephone soliciting. They're just trying to scrape by like the rest of us. I never donate via door or telephone soliciting and I agree, if you have a "no soliciting" sign they should by-pass you.
