YAYYYY IT'S MY 100TH POST AND IT IS A DOOZY!!!!!! This may go down as one of the rants of the year and may put me into some hot water but fuck it!!! Read it don't read, I don't care, I gotta get this off my chest.
I've lived in the Metro Vancouver area for 20 years. I've seen a lot change over that time. Many have said this is one of if not the most beautiful places in the world and for a time I would say that was true for a time. Now, I want to be anywhere else but here.
During the last seven years I have seen this once proud and beautiful metrpolis turn into just another lousy big North American city, right up there with such hell holes as Detroit and Cincinnati. (apologies to anyone from there, it's not the people just the area itself anfd its governing body). It has become a no fun city and province for that matter run by a bunch of people who are more concerned with feeding their image and pocketbooks than feeding the homeless. We are run by Nazis boys and girls which is weird because I thought this Vancouver 2008, not Berlin 1941. They're telling us what to eat, where we can smoke, what and how much we can drive. They make all these laws to "improve" this city/province yet make conditions that make it increasingly hard to follow them. These are governments that are run like businesses and in truth don't give a shit about its citizenry. They want us to take transit but they hike rates. They want skilled tradespeople but make it too expensive to get an education. They want people to take transit but allow real estate prices to get so high, people are forced to move to the valley in order to afford a house. Go ahead Mr. Campbell , take transit in from Abbotsford to Vancouver, I dare ya. I doubt you'd ever do it again. Then there's ICBC, rising gas prices I could go on and on.
We have justice system that serves criminals and not the victim. I really feel for that guy who got attacked with an axe. In 7 years the guy who put him in a wheelchair is back on the street. If it was me, I'd take any moonies won in a civil suit and pay someone to whack him when he gets out. If some motherfucker attacks me with an axe, he'd better put me 6 feet under or I will make sure he suffer till his last.
Now here's where it gets sticky. I've noticed that some oh well let's call them eastern asian cultures that are rather dominant in the region are trying to co-op this city and turn it into whatever country they are from. Let me give you an example.
I know a few meter readers and one of them had to read some meters in Chinatown. At one place, he was lead into the electrical room which was full rats and their accompying feces as well as maggotts , spiders etc. He flat out refused to go in there to read the meter and told the landlord of the building to clean it up or he wouldn't get his power turned back on. The landlord replied "It's Chinatown, what do you expect?" Now I don't know about you, but I don't think anybody, no mateer where they're from, should put up with that, certainly not in Canada anyway. In China, well that's up for the chinese to determine, but that's not how we do things here in Canada.
My point is that because of the policies regarding multiculturalism, this is allowed to go on. I don't care where your from and where you're moving to, you have to adjust yourself and your communities culture to the region in order to survive. If you come to Canada, learn the language, follow the laws, respect the customs. I can't go to New Dehli and walk down the street munching a hamburger because that's not going to jive with Hindu culture so why are sikhs allowed to ride bicycles without helmets? Because of their religion? It's a safety issue and I don';t t hink taxpayers should pay for you when you're in a coma because you deemed your religion more important than your brain. To me it seem they have a choice, take off the turban, get a helmet that accomodates both or don't ride a bike. We're not saying you can't ride a bike, but you have to do it within the laws and of the country you live in. Just as if I was to go to India, I would probably have to make different choices in my diet. Countries have laws and customs. If you can't intergrate them into your day to day life them immigrate somewhere else. There are lots of countries to choose from. And that applies to everyone not just here but around the world myself included. Respect the culture of the country you're in and change your day to day life accordingly.
This is the shit that I and everybody else has to put up with every day and it's just not right. And as much as I want to be a part of the solution I know I am part of the problem. I've been too consumed with myself to look up and actual see what's going on outside of my pitiful little world and we're all guilty of it too.Modern life and its conditions have made me weak and slow compared to how I once was. Sure pooning is fun but should be a spice in our lives, not our sustinence and I don't know about you but I want my children where people respect each other and work toward common goals. People who help the downtrodden and resist tyranny. A place where education and understanding are conerstones and people achieve based on merit, not privlidge.
Next up my solutions to help our current state
