I’m really curious about peoples’ sex education growing up. Could you tell me the decade you were born in and what your parents and/or teachers told you about sex?

I was born in 88, and my mom got me this awesome book called “the ‘what’s happening to my body?’ book for girls”. It’s probably a bit outdated now but I remember it answering pretty much every question I had, and my mom said I could come to her with any further questions. I wore out the pages 😂

Born mid 60's --- Born here but a European decent --- pretty much the same as I got older. Other than that. Friends would have porn magazines so we sort of feed of that. Kind of went from there. Then, dated a lot, then much later as I got older I was illegally married -- twice ( G/F live ins ) but, never legally married and no kids. To this date ...no change and I'm ok with that. Things are good. :)

I was born in the '40s, and the only thing either of my parents said was, (when I was getting ready to leave home for college) my mother said, "I assume you already know all about that man and woman stuff."

Still lost in the '60s
Did you?????? Haha what did you know?
As Mister Natural might have said, I didn't know sheeit.
I was more shy and nervous than Kim Mitchell, but eventually lost my virginity three years later (during the Summer of Love) thanks to a very patient and persistent girlfriend.

Born in 1990.

I remember "the puberty talk" at school in the 5th grade. They told us what sperm and eggs were. It was only when one kid asked "How does the sperm reach the egg?" that they told us the penis goes in the vagina and that's what sex is. I remember feeling like I was just told the secret to the universe. I also remember thinking after that when my pee was clear it meant there was sperm in there and I was killing hundreds of millions of my unborn children. So as far as education went, could've been better.

Aside from that, one time my Mom told me I need to be safe when a girl wants to "take me home." I had no idea what the fuck that meant, so I had a vision of two women dragging me screaming and begging into a house and I came away thinking my Mom was warning me to get a gun to protect myself from getting kidnapped by women.

Then 9/11 happened and I watched thousands of people get murdered on live TV and I was told by all the adults that when I'm 18 I'm going to have to go into the army and kill people in the desert. Looking back, that was also the years I became fixated on horror movies, maybe that had something to do with it I dunno.

Not long after that I saw porn for the first time thanks to our new broadband connection but it scared me. I didn't masturbate until I was 14 and when I came I was so deeply ashamed and scared of people finding out what a dirty boy I am that I didn't do it again for a year. It took twenty years after learning what sex is to actually experience it for the first time (thank you Mia Kane) and that was the only valid education I think I ever got on the subject.

My understanding of what both life and death meant reached a new level in 2001.

Grade 5 or 6 I want to say, late 70s, parents had to sign off on attendance of sex ed class, delivered by a professional. Some parents pulled their kids out, but most signed off. Very informative, all factual, no bullshit. Parents said to me, now that you know about it, don't do anything about it for at least 10 years. I did not listen and was already shoplifting playboys and jerking off madly by that point and jumped at the first chance I had to get laid at 15.

Born in late 60s in Quebec, raised by straight forward parents and taught by quite opened teachers with an opened minded high school curriculum that was about the mechanic, STD prevention , contraception and AIDS talks in the last year of high school.

Three times in my life ( regular setting not in the medical field ) I had to explain to grown women that the removal of one fallopian tube was no big deal as the ladies affected were going to be able to procreate every other month instead of every month. I was flabbergasted that it was never taught in the regular sex ed curriculum in BC... hopefully it is now . But with the Christian push back on the march in the last few years....I'm not so sure .

50's. Mom and Dad were cool, not hung up on Victorian or religious values so if a Playboy was found, no big deal. As far as sex goes, my education was pretty real, lost my cherry to a mid 40's widow on my paper route when I was about to turn 16. Learned a LOT. Never told folks of this until later in life. Lucky kid :)

90s kid...

...got to put condoms on bananas, drawing 'cow heads' as they explained the reproductive cycle.... then the boys had to go outside and play football, while the girls stay indoors to learn about tampons. Then for some reason, the teacher felt the need to feature this "Chorus Line" scene to explain human sexuality.

I was born in the 60s, everything I learned about sex was from reading the Penthouse magazines that I fished-out of the garbage after my dad threw them out.

Have you given your mom an update about what's happening to your body these days? :)

My parents were always very open about sex with me, even to the point of discomfort as a young teen or even younger. If anyone understands when your parents are being open with a little too tmi you get all grossed out. Just like when they kiss in front of you most kids especially in the teens get uncomfortable. But now that I look back I’m glad that my parents were like that. I’m sure a lot of people on here would be amazed at what my parents talked about openly to me.

Penthouse Forum. It made me believe all I had to do was get a job as a security guard in a warehouse during the graveyard shift. And in due time, a beautiful woman would have car trouble on a dark rainy night and she would come to my warehouse and we would have sex all night long until a tow truck would come by in the morning.

Born in the 80's, and I learned a bit from talks with my parents, and the Playboy channel as we had a satellite dish.
