Is there any substantial difference between them re: quality of products, service, communication, tracking, etc?

Temu is a discount site, selling useless and usefull off brand merchandise.
Ali Express sells real name brand electronics etc.. But returning is a bitch and not worth trying. You pay shipping back to China!

Should be a law they have to have an local distributer that can take back the items. Resale locally.

Pls note that stuff bought from foreign countries have to make or exceed Canadian laws. Toward toxicity, radiioactivity etc.

Buying from foreign countries can circumvent Cdn standards and laws on return of you money.

I think Temu now claim they have local warehousing/shipping.

Getting an account with Temu is like signing up for a lifetime spam shower. Multiple emails every day. However, the few things I have purchased from Temu have been decent quality.
I have no experience with Ali Express.

A lot of Aliexpress stuff is fakes or poor quality knockoffs.
I’ve got some knockoff tools on Ebay that are as good as the original. You have to buy from the actual fabricator though and they can be hard to find.

I've bought a few things on AliExpress, mainly cheap small electronics like wireless earbuds, adapter, long charging wire for the phone... Also few guitars. Guitars aren't bad... Of course they're fake, but okay ok and are good "wall hanger"

Don't know about temu... The way the app/website is built don't make me want to buy on it, and everything you can find there can also be purchased on AliExpress...

You can get actual name brands fron Ali, but they also carry a lot of knockoffs. Temu is more a really big Dollar Store or Army Navy.

Temu has been excellent in my experience. Shipments show up in a reasonable timeframe within a week, and if they miss their own delivery window, you get store credit. If a product is garbage or just not what you expected, they’ll refund you and, depending on the situation, often let you keep the item anyway.

AliExpress, on the other hand is a nightmare in my experience and I used them more than a dozen times over the years. Support is painful to deal with, packages frequently never arrive, and they will dragging things out by repeatedly extending the “refund or dispute resolution window” without permission. I’ve done so many credit card chargebacks with AliExpress that I avoid them completely now.

I never had this problem with either in terms of spam emails.
