Keeping records, no. See: any prosecution of a sex industry worker from the Mayflower Madam onwards.
Cameras in common areas, not as much a big deal. I get that security of the ladies is a priority, and recording the public areas can be for the ladies security. How often those recording are scrubbed, or if they are recorded on a loop or cloud, definitely a concern. If they are on an air gapped DVR with a 6 hour erase loop, then that's totally fine. Any perps will be on tape for enough time to make a copy for police.
But in reality, I don't think any of the local establishments would have the technical knowledge in house to set up a system like that, or even the desire to.
I get the desire to create a secure environment for clients and providers, and properly done, it can be good for both, but in an industry operating in the gray, I really don't think its going to work.
Again, in a licensed and regulated industry, these kinds of security measures for both parties would be executed better, above board and with both security and confidentiality in mind.
