From an ad, the opposite of most rate structures.
Base rate 350/hr
Two hours, 750 or 375/hr
Three hours, 1200 or 400/hr

I've seen some similar situations too.
One I can see the reasoning, for example 1 hour = 100 but 90 minutes may be $200. If the proviiders books her day for sessions starting on the hour, she misses out on a full session for that extra 30 minutes.
But with those rates you showed, that is just crazy. I'd take 3 separate sessions for only $ 1,050

Maybe she is just very bad at math? Or she gets bored after an hour and requires extra compensation. I suspect that might be true for a lot of providers lol, but they choose not to charge extra.

I see many places where the price structure is bizarre.
Planning my own trip to the Lower mainland soon, I've been looking into who all to see that week. One place I had hoped to go see a lady at is AF ( Asian Fever ) and because I prefer more time than some, I looked at their 90 minute rate. Their 90 rate is more than 50% again as much as their hourly rate, when I would have expected it to be less.
Imagine if you took your car in for a service, and the shop tells you that despite an hour of labor costing you $100, because this job is 1.5 hours they have to charge you more for the rest of the job past that one hour mark.
You would look at the service writer like they had three heads spouting out of their shoulders.
" Yes sir, we book the first hour at just $100/hr, but if the job goes past the hour, any time over is billed at $150/hr."
Great do one hours work.
Then book off that job.
Then start a new work order, and finish the job up as two seperate jobs, is what you would tell them to do.

Suspect that the lady only wants short sessions. Maybe you can get a half hour for $150.

Whenever I see rates that don’t make sense to my benefit I keep my mouth shut...

Could be because she's found that guys booking multi-hours just want to pound away for that whole time, which isn't pleasant for her?

and guys that want an hour are depleted quickly so she doesn't have to work for the full hour.
Kinda like shop rates, where the base rate is really only a 15 minute service but you get dinged for a full hour. In theory the longer the shop rate, the more complicated the issue. That is more value based billing than hourly rates. Like realtors. Oh, I sold your house and it only took me 2 hours work, but that will be $20,000 please & thanks.

Look at retail stores, where there are single items and the same item sold in bulk, sometimes you are not getting the bulk discount, its actually more. You always have to check the prices....

Sales gimmicks. We pay the tax (so the mark up is actually more than the actuall price of the tax). 10% off if over 100.00. (a little discount) or 20% off is over 450.00. (pays the taxes, and a little bit extra off but still above what the retailer paid for it).

I like Cdn Tire, discounts are between 10 and 70% off, in order to move items. Sadly in the last 7 years some things have increased by over 100% at Cdn Tire. Sears should of done this 15 years ago (after all it started as a mail order business but got caught up in mall space) and stopped doing sales to move items. Craftsman stuff was overpriced and not moving.

Although I would thnk the online stores (ebay, amazon) would have comparable prices to retailers, some retailers have lower prices then the online places (might be a manufacturer way of keeping retail in business).

I've seen a number of ads where it was cheaper per minute for 60 minute vs 90 minute sessions too, couldn't figure out why either. Unfortunately I prefer 90 minute sessions so I just suck it up and pay more

This one is easy: she can be paying for the incall by the hour. She has an option to get it for one hour or two, no 90 min option.

I can imagine many explanations. Random order, pick what you like.

  • bad at math;
  • to adjust for the higher risk of cancellation/no show for longer dates;
  • personal preference for short dates, SP gets tired;
  • multi-hour clients actually get better/more service;
  • edited the ad and reduced some numbers, forgot/ignored others;
  • advanced market research (the ideal price is a function of supply/demand at each offering; we don't know on this side, but maybe multi-hour people are willing to pay more per hour than single-hour crowd);
  • incall price impact, e.g. can rent a cheap incall for an hour, has to use a hotel for longer;
  • other costs impact, e.g. a dog sitter or a baby sitter is easier to procure for shorter dates;
  • didn't put much thought in it, copied numbers from another SP(s);
  • not expecting somebody actually goes for 4h, but if they do, let it cover the rent;
  • the rate is just a number (there are SPs who change them all the time or see them as a starting point for negotiations).

I've often noticed this kind of a rate structure, too. The biggest problem for me is that my automatic reaction is to question the intelligence of the provider. I'm sure it's not fair, but that's where my brain goes. :nerd:

No personal incall? And likely has a vehicle eliminating the cost of taxis. Or maybe hoping the client pays for a hotel room and leaves after the appointment .
