The whole, "The refs are favouring one team" is bullshit.
Let me ask you a question. If the refs continue to put the whistle away, what type of teams do you think this favour? The big and physical but slower teams or the smaller, more skilled and faster teams?

Does it matter?

For as long as the NHL has existed, well before Bettman, in the playoffs they let them play and things aren't called.

Guess why the Canucks go out early most years and the tough teams move on?

Apparently this still comes as a surprise to some people.

Way to stick handle the question. The exception to your explanation would be the 24 cups the Habs have won as they have never been just about the brawn but you already knew that. To me, winning the cup entails many things, in no particular order, a hot goalie, secondary scoring, injuries, luck of the draw and winning the special teams. As opposed to your tough teams move on, simpleton theory.

I'll be cheering for the Hawks, but I think the Bruins do in 6,maybe less.
Of course,I picked Pens&LA last round,lol.

Wonder how its gonna go in the Van sports bars, as to who the crowds cheer for.

For Canucks' fans I guess its who do you hate least?

"Usually the calls even up and over a seven game series the best team wins. "- cock-in-your-throat

"The Capitals have taken 31 penalties in the series. New York, which was the NHL’s least penalized team in the regular season, has been called for 19."-yahoo sports
"No team has gotten more power-play chances than the Sharks, and they made the Canucks pay. San Jose scored seven times on 24 chances (29.2 percent) in the four games. The seven extra-man goals were nearly half the 15 they scored in total in the series."- yahoo sports

The NHL REFS gave gave SJ & NYR a wide advantage in power plays during the 1st round; NOT AN EVEN UP !!!!!!!

Hey genius - the refs didn't score any goals against the Canucks, Rangers, Peguins or anyone else. The Canucks GAVE UP goals at a 29% rate while trying to kill penalties. If they could kill a few penalties and score a few on their own chances they'd still be in the playoffs.

Refs can call all the penalties they want - if a team has a decent kill they gain momentum.

And tough doesn't mean just running the other teams, it means taking punishment, too and being disciplined. The Habs won all those championships by being tough and talented.

Butterboy - if you think the refs are cheating to favour certain teams why do you care who wins?

Chicago and the Pens both have great skill players , however the whistle has been put away and will continue to be put away for the finals.
Boston man handled and crushed a skill team with brute force , and a bit of skill .
Chicago is no exception , they will get steamrolled.......Bruins in 5 ......... and i hope Lucic or Chara put Kane in the Monkey house !!!!

Chicago is the more complete dynamic team. From Goaltending, to defence, to forwards. Specialty teams and coaching. Boston is just thug life

THe Black hawks will add a 3rd Stanley Cup. 1961, 2010 and 2013 champs.

Presidents Trophy and Stanley Cup Champions in 5 games at most 6. Doubt it will go 7
In a perfect world, I would 100% agree with you. Seems to me that the Bruins get a lot more leeway from the Zebras than any other team in the playoffs. Chicago isn't the kind of team than can respond to smash mouth hockey and it the Refs let them play it will certainly go the Bruins way.

Boston in 6.

Team defense is the difference in Boston's favour, plus Chara.

This pretty much forces teams to shoot from the blueline, but that's not enough to win ya a series.

should make for a good Final. imo, both teams match up well and being recent
SC winners plus those near-elimination games will benefit both teams.
difference maker will prob be special teams and role players. I think Boston
has a slightly better 3rd and 4th line plus I'll give them the edge for team goonerie.

having watched all the games of the last two series i was struck by the difference in pure speed of the VERY fast boston/pittsburg games compared to the much slower chicago/los angeles games

if boston can maintain that speed in the finals, chicago doesn't stand a chance

so i stick with a boston sweep

probably not, because i subscribe to the conspiracy theory camp that the nhl won't allow a sweep in the stanley cup so they can get more game revenue :D

but i saw nothing in the chicago/los angeles series that could hold a candle to what was going on in the boston/pittsburg series, so what the heck... in for a penny - in for a pound!

truth be known i was cheering for pittsburg, but that was like cheering for vancouver :(

so in the tongue-in-cheek spirit of go big or go home... boston sweep :D
