Easy there! Pontificating things and ones chosen career path/passion are completely different things. Pontificating someone else's income (in my opinion) is silly because it makes zero difference in one's life trying to figure out how much other people make. Comparing that to saying calling someone's career path/passion as silly is nothing but a false equivalency - so just stop. And your examples of why someone needs to know how much their neighbour paid for their house is, hate to say it, asinine. Firstly, most people (just my opinion) don't decide to help others based on how much they paid for their dwelling/residence. Crime rates, average household income levels, education levels of neighborhoods and similar stats are publicly available. In other words, you simple do not need to know what one person paid for their house to determine any of those stats. Truthfully, if someone is that curious about knowing if their neighbour has a mortgage or not, that too is also publicly available information. Perhaps I'm just old-fashioned, but asking your neighbour how much they paid for this or that is just bad form.
