Is it just me or is Matt Sekeres an ass ugly white guy? I was listening to the Sekeres and Price Segment and Blake Price used the derogatory term for homosexual "f" word in full context and it seemed ok. Anybody else have a problem with it? Ironically, they went on to discuss the use of the name "Redskins"

Quite honestly I stopped listeming to Canucks radio 24/7 a while ago.

Can't stand the on air hosts. Bro Jake and Dave Pratt are a waste or 4 hours of radio time. Sekeres ,Price, Ball, . I'm just done with them

Only guys I can listen to are Tom Mayenknecht , Rintoul, Mojo and Barry MacDonald.

Only shitty thing about B Mac is I have too put up with taylor and his schtick that was old in the 90's.
I agree with this 100%. They still talk about the Canucks playoff run in 2011 and Taylor & Pratt still reference jokes from "Seinfeld".

Their show does get boring after a little bit.

Jim Rome is pretty good over on 1410 from 9-12 but right now he is taken over by the world cup.

Have to agree 1040 is pretty lame....i find that guest host Mitch Berger (local former NFL punter) articulates well and is alot better then listening to bro jake talk about Joe Fortes or BMW dealerships...i prefer 1410 ESPN Mike & Mike show to get away from the 24/7 365 day a year Canuck dribble

As 1040 is pretty much the only sports radio program in town now, I do like to listen to them during trade deadline day or when the Canucks make major news (ie - big trade, GM/coach change, big free agent signing). Other than that, I don't really listen to them either. *hehe*

Is Russell totally done? Or is he on another station somewhere?
russell took his show to am 650, running from sunday to thursday, same timeslot. brought lee powell onboard. thought he was dead. anyway the key was that he bought the airtime from the radio station and had to find his own advertisers, negotiate his own spot rates, etc. couple months ago sportstalk officially ended though, as russell finally called it a day. he said there was enough money to keep going but i doubt that as he was all gung ho about going there when he got turfed from nw, but then doesn't even last a year. i think he has one show a week now on sunday nights called sportstalk golf or something along that lines.

Ah, thanks for the info. Too bad, I always liked him, but he had a very good run and career. :)

Surely somebody recalls when CKNW was the Top Dog and they had the Fat Canuck Contract?

Everyone bitched about the softballs lobbed at Coaches and GM's in the day by CKNW on air commentators. Team 1040 was merely nipping at the heals of CKNW but had a devoted following.

Money buys influence and hanging a big fat radio contract over a radio station pays for that privelege.

Whomever holds the contract will never be the broadcaster of choice by the fans.

you got that right. i'm still pissed that the canucks strongarmed team 1040 into "retiring" tom larscheid, because he was too critical of the team.

Jim Robson, Jim Hughson and Shorty. ............. My fav's.

I frankly couldn't stand Tommy. He never played hockey and even novice like me could spot that. I remember a game from 90's Dave Babych went down on his knees to block a shot and Tommy was raving about him, "YES, THAT's how you do it." Soon, Lumme did it, but Canucks got scored on and Tommy changed his tune and he went on and on about how Lumme committed himself and caused a goal. I don't miss him at all. His interviews were the worst. He would ask a question, then gave half of the answer himself and then would say, "So what do you think." He questions were like multiple choice. uuurgggh !!!!!!!!!

I hope the new guy grows on me. Also on TV side, I find TSN could use better voices. Romano and Dave seem to struggle a lot.

IMHO, Jim Hughson has been the best of the bunch.
