With Priya's post about hiking, it reminded me of activities, mostly outdoors, and who do I like to do them with. For hiking, paddling, running, I find I prefer to go solo. I guess I'm an introvert by nature and always like setting my own pace and enjoying the entire sequence of the event, from prep to quiet coffee at the end, on my own time. Doing a solo paddle camping trip is probably top of my bucket list; obviously safer to have a buddy in case things go sideways but part of the appeal is the self-reliance required.
The exception for outdoor activities is cycling. While I can bike on my own just fine and sometimes quite enjoy a hard, solo effort, I really enjoy group rides. Anything from casual spins to eye-bleeding weekly "world championships ", it's almost always good fun!
Brought this topic up on another board and others brought up various social events like concerts, movies, etc. Always interesting to hear others' perspectives on this subject. So what do you all prefer?
