none of it would have happened if she wasn't going 28km/hr. over the speed limit. that's considered excessive speeding and asking for trouble. if that's her driving style it's amazing she hadn't been pulled over before. for the most part the states has higher speed limits so you really have to be giving it to get a ticket down there, unlike canada where speed limits are kept artificially low to get all that ticket revenue (which the NDP is now taking away from municipalities). i live right on the border so head down regularly. speed limit most of the way is 70mph. most i will do is 75mph which is a comfortable 120km/hr. never had a problem and see the white state patrol cars sitting there all the time. one place you have to be really careful cuz they are sneaky is just after crossing at 176th into blaine. when you first come out of the crossing the limit is 25mph until you get past the burger king, then it goes upto 40. the blaine cop will sit at the first intersection and nab people who go 40 right away.

Great clip, love Jim Jeffries! I thought of a different clip when I read that darn Yankee's post. If you've never seen this clip get ready for possibly the best 8 mins ever on TV:

Newrsoom is one of the best HBO series EVER!

Yup! It didn't get near the attention, accolades and audience it deserved. Was sorry when it ended after just 3 seasons.

I got caught speeding in Wyoming a few years back. Forget how much over the limit I was. The cop was pretty good about it. Just gave me a warning ticket.

There's one right there at the White House; so what else can we expect?

Saw on twitter some apologists explaining the cop was right to arrest her because she was not carrying her passport when she was stopped for speeding 87 at 70 zone.

1) Passport is a travel document required to gain entry into a foreign country. Once entry is gained, there is no requirement for one to carry on the body 24/7.

2) Canadians are exempted from visa requirement to visit the U.S. and vice versa.

3) Drivers with valid driver licence from Canada has the privilege to drive in the U.S. and vice versa.

4) At the most, the cop could have written a speeding ticket. Handcuffing her and putting her in jail may be grounds for lawsuit.
I was in Costa Rica a couple years back, driving with the people I was vacationing with. The cops stopped us and checked everyone's passport. Apparently happens there frequently as some people go there and tend not to leave when they should.

Those Western USA States can be pretty lenient when it comes to speed on major highways. Never been through Wyoming but Montana, Idaho, Nevada etc are usually cool to cruise at higher speeds.

Arizona and New Mexico though are not places to go flat out.

Maybe someone should have told "Fast & Furious 9: The Georgia Whine" that she should have done her homework about speeding laws before she decided to go "super speeding" through the Georgia countryside.

Wouldn't a half-educated person know that Georgia has the toughest anti-speeding laws in the country and is notorious for speed traps. Heck, even a person who grew up watching TV shows and movies must have seen dozens of examples of why you don't go speeding through Georgia.

By the way, if you Canadians are interested, here's a link to Georgia's Super Speeder law ( https://dds.georgia.gov/reinstatement-faqs-super-speeder). Sounds to me like she got off lucky.

and.....I like Jim Jeffries, but if he thinks Holland is so frickin free, why isn't he building his comedy career there....or down under?

Nobody's putting a gun to his head to stay in the "Land of the Free".

And it's ironic someone who comes from a penal colony would criticize another country's record for imprisoning its people? His whole fucking country started as a prison.

There is about the original story that raises questions.
1. The woman was able to use her cell phone to contact people from the back seat of a police car?
2. When she is being booked, the officer's supervisors should of known that having a Canadian drivers' license was legal? In the states are people not entittled to have a phone call (The woman should of been able to at least call the consulate)
3. The fact the woman was told she would have to wait for a court date past 48 hours, is concerning.... speaks toward "this is a scam" from the local authorities.

The second article about money grabbing/seizure is very frightening.

True or False, some police forces in the states when people are caught speeding and issuing a speeding ticket, sometimes the drivers are asked to pay on the spot with a credit card.

Wazzat? It ended? Did anybody notice?

Newsroom was one of the most boring, self righteous shows ever. It was painful to get through an episode. That's why nobody watched it. Suprised it lasted 3 years.

The ratings barely averaged over 1m viewers (it premiered at 2m and then dropped like a stone). I know those are blockbuster numbers in Canada but here in the "Land of the Free" it's not enough to cover Aaron Sorkin's cocaine habit.

By the way, care to guess what Trump's Apprentice show averaged over 8 years? More than 10 times what this Sorkin drivel did.

Heck, even Arnold's disaster version of Celebrity Apprentice averaged more than TRIPLE what newsroom did.

Now that's funny. HAHAHAHAHA

I'll take a stab at those... pretty simple really. Probably plying his career in the US over Holland for a couple reasons. 1) guessing he doesn't speak Dutch, and 2) money. There's no more lucrative country in the world for show business than the US.

And the irony is indeed palpable. It's ironic how they have progressed so rapidly from their criminal origins and created a society that is far more safe, sensible and civilized than the self-proclaimed "Land of the free".

So basically rather than taking on the points he made, you'd just like him to shut up, I take it?

I'm going to take a wild stab and say you're not a fan of Colin Kapernick either?

He even prefaced it with "now don't be offended" etc. What did he say that was actually incorrect?

My first question was, do people (other than SPs) use Snapchat all that much? Snapchat wouldn't be my first choice of app to send a message to a friend and to make sure the message stays.

Most Australians are proud of their heritage, and the fact that most of their ancestors were criminals. Criminals that were sent out of England. They made a good country for themselves and are proud of that.

Mr Jeffries pointed out the difference in Freedom between the US and Holland... its funny

Most Americans think that their "land of the Free" is the only free country in the world. Americans are self absorbed with "I'm a American". Americans walk around other countries and think they own it (they don't). They don't know anything about the countries they visit, the cultures. All they care about is money and profit. Thats the bottom line, they care for nothing else.

American policy in the middle east, they put up dictators to do their bidding, (Kaddifi, Saddam, the shaw of Iran) to keep the countries stable and the oil flowing. Ooops......Money again.... Those deals backfired.... wonder why, cause the people wanted their freedom and not to be dictated to........

Read up on the history of Iran from the early 1900s, to present day....

But for the freest country in the world, why would an American Citizen put a Canadian Flag on his backpack when he travels to other countries.... simply - not to be seen as an American.

"Love it or leave it" is a cop out.
Where would America be if George Washington, Ben Franklin, Paul Revere had just given up and moved away?
It is also ironic that in the self described Land of the Free, the phrase is used to censor criticism.

How can a society be free if its leader calls a free press an enemy of the people?

Newsroom was way over most American's heads. Too much dialogue with meat on it that the Deplorables could handle in between their Cheeto and Cola commercials.

Thanks for bringing up Apprentice show which further dumbs down America. You reap what you sow. #45's intelligence is quite questionable.

Look at the Newsroom clip (probably didn't the first time, right?) It has the numbers where US Students stand vs the ROW. For the Greatest Nation on Earth, you guys do a shit job at education. Making it only available to the rich at an Average of $50K per year further adds to your education problem. Hence having #45 as your President now.

It's an age thing. Snapchat is popular with younger people. It has evolved beyond what it started out to be.

It's sooo true, a few of my american friends tried to involve me in their politics, and I flat out told them, Canadians freed slaves... we smuggled them thru the underground railroads to save them from the Elitists... to save them from the way America used to be...That is something America as a country can ever say, they never freed slaves. It was the Democrats who were FOR slavery all along... The Republicans under Abe Lincoln began to abolish slavery... Imagine where North America would be without Canada? We have a pretty good History, yes there were residential schools and it's not something we can ever be proud of, there are other things that we CAN be proud of. I still love my American neighbours, so adorable and I honestly cannot name the 50 states, but its never been my life goal either ;)
Having been educated in the US (and no, that’s not an oxymoron!) I can say the US educational system tends to teach nothing about Canada. The media is no better - I grew up knowing more about Ancient Cemtral/South American societies, Russia (USSR) and Middle East than anything about Canada. It’s sad and embarrassing. Up until a few years ago, I didn’t know how many provinces/territories there were, how it’s govt works, population, etc. No excuses, mind you.

With over 300m people (the majority of whom think the US is the end-all/be-all), you’re bound to get some uneducated folks in all walks of life. Again, no excuses and some huge apologies are owed to the woman!

I'm sure Trump's Apprentice beat Mad Men and Breaking Bad in the ratings, also.

That doesn't mean Apprentice was a better show; it wasn't by a fucking long shot. It was festering shit with an asshole for a host.

It just means their are a lot of "unsophisticated" people in the TV viewing audience who like slop because it doesn't challenge their brains.
