I see your point and wish for equality in the "bond" department between sexes. I fully support male bonding and female bondage.

Someone brought up the possibility of having "skill level" based teams rather than gender ones....I grew up playing several sports, most at the school level.

I played in a competitive co-ed volleyball league when I was in university, and the quality of play was very, very high - with gender not a factor a lot of the time. Sure, the men could generally jump higher and spike the ball harder, but that was about it. Teams had to have 3 & 3 on the court, and the women could hold their own and then some.

So , in one sense I can see how leagues based on skill would help eliminate the issue of gender in some sports. On the other hand, it would be a nightmare to administrate, and next to impossible to come up with objective criteria for the various "levels".

I think as we progress as a society, and more sports opportunites are available to females at an earlier age, there will be some narrowing of the gender gap - though the obvious physical differences will never disappear.

I'm all for girls trying out for boys teams when they are competitive and can hold their own....provided they accept their fate when things don't work out their way.

Dude, you disproved your own point. Teams HAD to have 3 & 3. HAD TO. If gender wasn't an issue, there wouldn't have been any rule.

Sorry, this is a bunch of bull. Obviously, this "male bonding" period is where guys pick up the contemptious attitude towards women I can see on these boards every day. It would do both sexes good if they would learn who to co-exist in peace. There would be a lot less unhappy marriages.

As a matter of fact, this thread opened up my eyes, and now I can see that you guys are not born with animosity against women in general, but are MADE so through this "male bonding" amongst yourselves.... Now, instead of resenting you, I feel sorry for you for your inability to relate to woman normally.
I think you have some issues regarding men and should schedule an appointment with DR. Phil.:D

Moral of your story: Girls shouldn't play in boy's team, because boys are assholes and that is unfair to the boys....

Or am I misunderstanding here something?

can a man who couldn't make the mens hockey team or other sports team have the right to play on the womens or girls team?

How about teaching the boys how to have respect for girls (and boys) instead of separating them? A skill that would help them in life?

Up your V
Woman should play with women and man should play with men in sports. That's what gender is all about.

In case ,,,Tennis.A few years ago when the Venus sisthers were in top of their game. They wanted to challenged a man and be on the men's ATP tournament.John McEnroe had a big stink about it.
If the women wanted the same prize money as the men, they need to play 3 winning sets, not the current 2

Those hockey girls made national news only tobe disgrace when they were cut off the team. Just put a L sign above their forhead. L-0-S-E-R.
Sure they are better than all their girls squad, but only their blown out imagination they wanna be with the boys.

But I'm sure the coach didn't want to change this-locker room stuff or speaking a different tone,or no/less physical contact(checking) practices with two softer chest areas newbies.etc.

Good enough to play with the boys, but not good enough to join the boys.

I agree with you Thelyhi, women should play in a women's league and leave the men play in a men's league.

The two female hockey players had equality... they had their own league in which no male was allowed to be part. They wanted more than equality... and they are fighting to be more than equal. This does not seem like a fair and equitable situation to me. Equal does not mean the same.... and it would be a tragic world if it did.

Are you by chance referring to the Manitoba case?

I don't think it's about equality. Nobody is saying girls can't play the sports, just that if guys want to play amongst themselves that should be their choice. As I said why not have coed teams where both girls and boys mutually want to play together rather than girls forcing themselves onto boys teams that just want to play with boys? How is that equal for the boys that don't want it? Like the examples I gave and others did as well, there are more and more situations where there is a double standard. Like:
- There can't be men's only gyms, but there's Spa Lady for women only.
- Girls allowed into female strip bars, but guys aren't allowed into ladies nights where there are male strippers.
- As meetoo113 said, girls were allowed into Scouts but guys aren't allowed in Girl Guides.
In your three examples what kind of legal action was taken? And if there was, what were the end result and the reasons for the results.

In Manitoba (and I suppose in other provinces as well) for a successful challenge on discrimination the plaintiff must first prove that discrimination does exists. Without that the second part can't be pursued, that is the defendant must then prove as to why the discrimination should be justified.

So, how is this equal? I have no problem with girls having certain things to themselves and guys should as well. If not, then as GBM said, why not have everyone at the Olympic level compete against each other rather than having men's and women's events. Then let's hear the outcry that it's not fair.[/QUOTE]

Are you really saying that all big guys are dumb? Talking about a stereotype. This is something I would expect a little man to say...you know the little man syndrome.

An so there should be at least one or more guys who will. The sport is a contact sport and people will get driven into the boards. why should that change because a girl is playing on the team.

My personal opinion is that there should be seperate teams for boys and girls as well as coed teams. If you are going to use the law to change that and allow women/girls to play on boys teams then it has to go the other way as well and men/boys must be allowed to play on womens/girls teams.

First off, your post sounds like you think I'm a guy. I'm not a guy, I'm a girl, so "the little man syndrome" doesn't apply to me. Secondly, I didn't mean "dumb" in the literal sense. It was light humor meant to be taken as just that, no more, however, if you need clarification because you couldn't understand what you were reading, I shall enlighten you. What I meant was in the realm of the football mentality in a game. The really big guys are not there to think about every single angle that might be there, they are there to block, hit and protect. No, they're not dumb but the little guys have to be sharper on the field, they have to know where every angle is because they need every advantage they can get in order to not be run over by a big guy. The big guys depend on the little guys to run fast and look for gaps, the little guys depend on the big guys to block for them and when the little guy finally gets taken down right near the goal line and comes up short for the TD, they depend on the big guys to push that ball over the last few inches, often times with half or more of the defense clinging to them. I know big guys aren't "dumb", but they serve a completely different purpose than the little guys and it isn't "smarts" they're recruited for. I have been dealing with our local football league for years now and I see this firsthand. Besides, like I said, it wasn't meant as an insult or slight to bigger guys and if you thought that, perhaps you are overly sensitive, but there is medication for that.

As for your comment about allowing boys in girl's activities and vice versa, that point was already made several times by several people in this thread, so you didn't really post anything significant or worthwhile of debate. You just repeated what had already been said.... hmmmm..... are you a big guy?

No class carly,

Yes i already new you were of the weaker sex.
(One good stereotype deserves another)

I could also tell you were trying to boast about how good your undersized son was in football and better than the bigger players. Everyone knows that, why just look at how small most of the NFL players are. Must be because little guys are better.;)
Yes I am a bigger guy than some and played football for a long time. Little guys have their place, that is for sure but I've seem many of the taken off the field in stretchers, more so than the larger guys.

I wonder....

if Tiger Woods or VJ Singh suddenly decided they should play in the WPGA, they would of course win all the time and take all the prize money. It would be fair to allow men to play in the women's league, yes? There would be no uproar from women, right?

I sure hope the female proponents of the "right" for females to play in men's leagues have the guts to defend the "right" of Tiger Woods to play the WPGA.
Good point :D

Let boys have their own damn team and let girls have their own team

I think its more about stirring up the shit than a real desire to play on a boys team, the ones who make an issue of it know damn well they will get a bunch of publicity and probably get a few pics in the local paper

I wasn't trying to boast about anything, I was using it as an example in a point I was trying to make. It must be nice to read and interpret things in your own way when you have only read one post from a person. Good for you that you can take smaller guys off the field in a stretcher, must make you feel important. That comment however, has nothing to do with regards to making a point or espousing an opinion about boys and girls teams, so once again......your post is quite irrelevant.

Carly,

I see you are new to the board, Welcome.

Again you assume too many things. Maybe one day you'll grow up.

Did I say I sent anyone away on a stretcher? I said "I've seen" not "I sent".

FTR, I did state my opinion on the matter earlier which you again said was irrelevant. You seem found of dismissing people's opionions as irrelevant, must make you feel more important doing so.

I think you'll get along well with Anita's Massage.

I think majority of the males would prefer if the women would just play in a women's league instead of trying to crash/disrupt a men's league;) :p  :D
