My 0.02.
I read a lot here and in the news in general, of people saying that certain things are a matter of personal choice. For example it is their personal choice to or not to wear a mask or go to a bar. In this case it is whether or not to see escorts.
While I do believe in personal freedoms there needs to be a distinction made between the rights of the individual and the rights of society.
Part of living in a civilized society is the acceptance that one is going to generaly conduct ones self in a manner consisitent with the rules of that society. That is why, despite whether you are a religious person, the 6th Commandment ("Thou shalt not murder") is the law of the land and most of us try to abide by it.
I believe personal freedoms only trump the needs of society when the expression of those freedoms does not impact negatively on one's neigbors or society as a whole. If I were to decide to dig a big hole in my back yard, out of sight of anyone else, who cares. But if I started burning old tires in it and polluting the air, suddenly my personal beliefs and actions are not acceptable nor allowed.
When it comes to Covid, we cannot simply say that our actions are our own to determine. Our actions are not being made in a vacuum. Interactions with people outside your bubble do increse your risk of contracting the virus no matter how careful you think you are being. It's simple statisitcs. The more often you interact, the greater chance you have of contracting the virus. But then you are in contact with family, loved ones, co-workers etc, potentially exposing all of them. You get sick so you go to the hospital, thus exposing health care workers who are your neighbors and have families and loved ones. You put an unnecessary strain on an already overburdened health care system.
I don't agree with shaming anyone. That doesn't work and only causes people to hide their activities.
But IMHO, we all need to take a step back. You can fool yourselves into thinking that you are taking all the necessary precautions but the virus is winning. It can be transfered before you even start to show symtoms or feel ill. It can be incubating and you can have a negative test, then boom it comes out and you are sick.
Unless you are living alone in the woods with no other human contact and are willing to refuse any type of mediacl care if you get sick, then go ahead and continue on. But if you expect to live in a society where we all have a resposiblity to do the right thing, then do the right thing.
Cheers
