Not necessarily - I'm as Caucaisian as they come. My father's given name (a common one) was also his mother's maiden name and is the given name of a female second cousin. My given name is used occasionally on the female side. I can think of a few other given English names that are used for either gender. Don't ask about similar crossovers in other languages/cultures, my guess is you will find some.
