I’m a Fido user, mondays are usually my SP days, and no way to contact any of the ladies I have on my list. Feels like a first world problem... but I’m definitely feeling hard done by
Same here bro. I was supposed to set things up today and I have been super thirsty.... Yet when I tried to send the texts it won't be delivered... After a few moments of mental breakdown I walked to a Fido store where I was reminded of what's going on... Now I am sitting on my beach chair in my backyard, sipping Timmy's iced coffee and taking a sunbath... I might be able to survive these tough times after all... #firstworldproblems

We will remember these dark days.
"Kids, it's hard to imagine, but when your grandpa was young, there was a time, when I woke up to a national internet outage. It was horrendous. Remember when I told you the ages before internet, where separated people could only communicate through telegrams and stuff? Well, your grandpa also experienced the dark times of our time. I was on this discreet meeting with a lady, our rendezvous was not commonly accepted by the society, but your grandpa kept in contact with her with the help of the Internet, then one day, there was a national internet outage that unexpectedly cut off our connection. But your grandpa was a strong man, I said to myself, I need to find ways to stay sane, so I improvised. I turned to the recreational activities enjoyed commonly in your greater great great grandparent's times. I decided to walk 20 minutes to a Tim Hortons, can you imagine? Yes, I walked TWENTY minutes to get a iced coffee, and I later shared the story with other survivors impacted by the unprecedented event, and I, lived to tell the tale... "

GOD I am really bored rn lmao

That would explain why my cell phone states 'emergency calls only.' And yet I've been using WiFi all day, so didn't notice phone was down

The service is back on for me now. Earlier today I requested a confirmation text message from my bank, and just now I received that text message... 😅 It reminded me to check and apparently my Fido network is working again, so quick question for you guys, since I still received a text message from my bank, the text message I sent to a SP this morning which was unable to be delivered during the outage, will the message be delivered to her phone all the sudden now that the outage is over? 😅

Not sure if this would have worked at the outage’s onset but I was able to make and receive calls with wifi calling at about 1 PM. Super handy feature that sends and receives calls and messages over wifi anywhere in the world for free as if you were in your home calling and it’s not an app or anything. Most carriers support it but don’t promote it because you can use your phone anywhere in the world for free essentially. Just Google you device model and wifi calling.

Do some of you use the cell phone over wifi?
Back door hacking of the phone system?
China hacks America?? Seems I was watching an show about how China hacks NA and European Technology and adds it to their own. One of the rumours of the fail of BlackBerry a few years ago was the corporate espionge by China (Hauwei). China does what it needs to do despite patent laws and ownership laws (eg, they want to make a high speed train , they take the land away); the state comes first. In the last 7-10 years China has been putting out some high tech planes, warships and tanks for its armed forces.

Luckily we don’t rely on any cellular providers for our call center. All web-based. We were having problems confirming with bookings once they could no long call by wifi. Created for a shitty Monday but many were worse off with no communication at all. Guess the Telus and Bell stores might have been busy today with fed up clients of Rogers lol.

No hacking. Apparently it was caused by a software update.
