Is there any back story on Riza being caught with cash and small arsenal of guns two years ago? Was the story carried in the lower mainland papers?

Seems it didn't go to court but now the BC government is going after civil forfeiture. It's not a big problem at present but if there's a change in the political climate, with the way the laws are written, the government could seize any sex work related assets from every agency, massage parlour and worker anywhere in Canada except Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and the Yukon Territory.
17 guns is not a small arsenal....and the improperly secured charge ,is a bullshit offence.
I've had several improper storage charges.
Paid the fine and got my firearms back....it's used as an exscuse to gain access with a warrant half the time, to find something else....not sure if that's the case here, but whatever.

In the last 24 hours, I've seen three separate and unrelated articles about civil forfeiture, and expanded powers thereof to combat money laundering. Regardless of anything, I can't help but think this is part of a coordinated press effort to sway public opinion and reduce resistance to expanding those forfeiture powers. i.e. I'm suggesting the article has an agenda, and indeed Riza's replies above suggest the truth is more nuanced, as is usually the case.

I'm not understanding why there were no formal charges laid by the Crown given this happened two years ago. Forfeiting $17K comes across as a tax vs actually proving their case in this civil suit. Doesn't forfeiture follow a finding of guilt by the Crown? That's usually what happens when they seize assets from drug dealers etc.

The minor is of a great concern and it makes me wonder if the raid found any proof or if it's based upon heresy.
Now there are heretics involved...maybe JHC will make an appearance....hearsay son, hearsay.

Good luck with this Riza....can't be good for you personally or for business to have this out there. Remember, the warning I gave you about posting pictures with guns a few years ago....this could lead and probably will lead to unwelcome attention like those pictures would have. That, you were able to do something about, this you're going to have to ride out. Pretty sure you'll have lots of support.

Riza, looks like your webpage got hacked too... just to make your day even better. I just see a bunch of Japanese writing with a dinosaur and a dog, when I click it.

Also try not to worry or get stressed about this. Your business will probably go up. My lawyer told me that when I had a media problem and it turned out to be true. There is some truth to there is no such thing as bad press. It'll all blow over.

they'll call you at the last minute and then more or less threaten that if you don't respond we'll just have to make you look bad.
Notice how the "reporter" repeatedly claims how difficult and un-cooperative she was.
In fact, ANYONE who has legal problems know it is best to shut the fuck up. Anything you say can and will be twisted and taken out of context.
Referring media to a lawyer is exactly the right procedure.

They are in the process of changing the powers such that basically the government gets your property up front and then you have to go to court with them to get it back. People are understandably upset about the reverse onus. Plus, they want warrantless power to screen all your bank actions
Civil Forfeiture is a very bad thing.
Imagine you are a tradesman and the government has just seized your truck and all your tools in it.
They offer you a deal: pay us a $10,000 fine and you get your truck back immediately. Or go to court, pay that much at least in legal fees, you might not win, and you may wait months for a court date. Oh and even if you win you have to pay impound fees, storage fees, which may be hundreds as well.
This has happened.
This is extortion at it's worst.

Everyone reading this needs to contact their MP and MLA and voice your concerns. It can happen to you.

Absolutely and it wasn't lost on me. I've been through this before. Exact same kind of thing. This is how the guys operate. The narrative was already decided before he called her. To point out the obvious, nobody does 'research' with two hours to go before their deadline. He had no interest in researching or considering her side of the story. In my case, they already knew my lawyer and they wouldn't even take a quote from him. Later, it was all proven to be a bunch of BS, which if they bothered to listen and do a slight amount of research, they could have figured out. But, that's not how they operate. They would lose more than half their stories if they actually looked at both sides. If you build a fake narrative, you can get people worked up, which is what they try to do.

I don't believe the ratings for news either and I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I really think the numbers are flawed or faked. I won't go into details to stay anonymous here, but take my word for it having analyzed it all after the fact. If you buy advertising from the news, I would look into the cost/benefit because I think you're paying too much. I refuse to believe they get the eyeballs they claim. But that's why Facebook and Twitter are eating their lunch... Companies are seeing how much further $1 can go when it actually reaches people.

The next person to mention anything about anyone under age, is getting a week long stay in Perbatory. We have long standing rules on this issue. I have pruned this thread, severely. If any further pruning is required, it will be locked.

Finally a voice of reason....we have dealt with this before!
My heartfelt respect for all of you chiming in and giving some support....reading between the lines is always important.
Who wouldn't say " talk to my Lawyer?" FFS....of course Riza is unco-opertive with the Media, they're a bunch of parasites, looking for a story...if they don't get what they want, they'll sensationalise a half fact...it then becomes truth in social media.

Like....they just happened to publish a picture with the address right up front ?
I wonder how they'd like that if the tables are turned?....oh ,right they have their freedom of being an asshole to protect.

People need to sue these idiots more. I wish I did in hindsight. People just want the story to go away most of the time and you don't see how you've been had and conned by the whole thing until it's too late.

This kind of thing really gets me so worked up and angry. I feel punching a tree right now and if I saw a journalist I'd kick him in the nuts. To quote Hunter S. Thompson.... "I'm in the mood to chop your fucking hands off"

I was in a forest fire and some News team stuck a camera in my face.
It was behind an evacuated line, and they had creeped in there somehow......I informed them that because they had no clearance that all water aircraft had been called to stand down, all firefighters had to be roll called and accounted for, so they had to stop fighting and inspect all check points, as civilians had breached security.
He told me it was just the one vehicle, and only the three of them...and they had every right to be there under freedom of information.....or some other bullshit he quoted .
We as firefighters are allowed to do almost anything behind an evacuated line.....I had no idea those cameras where so expensive....or that they broke so easy when thrown on the ground.
My point is....they don't care who they hurt, or what they say, or what their actions might alter, just as long as they can say something ,to meet their deadline, ....and for their half drunk editor to be happy with them.
If they make a mistake, a correction or apology is printed down in a column a week or two later in a spot nobody would notice anyways.
Riza was kind enough to respond , when she didn't have too, or maybe more accurately when she shouldn't have....and I'm sure those very parasites are lurking here in the background, waiting to print more sensationalized inaccuracies, to fund their trailer park pitiful employment.

You may want to check your profile page, and the "most recent visitors "......mine just filled full of names I've never seen before as of today.

Years ago a friend was studying journalism. I learned of some of the assignments the students were given. The assignments basically put them in positions of being forced to victimize people in order to get something written to complete the assignments.

We very much need a free press. Unfortunately too many journalists confuse freedom with license to victimize people for the sake of a story. When that sort of behaviour becomes too pervasive, it makes it easy for powerful people or interests to get the public onside with the idea of placing controls on journalists.

I have never met Riza or been to her place, but she seems to run a good/safe operation for the “legit” ladies, if one “bad seed” feel through the cracks that’s too bad but her reputation shouldn’t be tarnished her (unless something changes through the courts of course)...

right here and now
So far the count is 2 people in Perbatory and 2 infractions.
Well done- I noticed what was pruned out and I'm quite sure the target appreciates it
I'd be surprised if you didn't toss a few warnings around as well for good measure.....

Side note... one article mentioned how they seized a bunch of cell phones. But they had been erased remotely before any info could be obtained. This shows how strongly tech companies are taking privacy. I’ve noticed for years (I think after the FBI hacked an iPhone from a mass shooter in California) tech companies espousing the importance of privacy and how they’ve worked hard at developing protections separated from law enforcement. Don’t get me wrong, if you were looking to commit a terrorist attack, I suspect the intelligence agencies might have some tricks up their sleaves. But local level law not so much. Good for constant conspiracy theorists to hear that.

Don't forget that as long as you are connected to the network, your carrier can locate your phone.
