.........and caused near zero grief during install or operation.

I'm a geek and like technology but technology doesn't always like me

I've been on a bit of a shopping spree lately and I'm batting near 1000 for what's worked right out of the box and hasn't had me call tech support.

1. Linksys Wireless-G Access Point w/POE

Works kick ass and have AMAZING* coverage throughout the whole house. Bought the POE model since at some point I want to install a Nortel BCM or other SMB VoIP system and would be nice to power the sets via the LAN.

*With the antenna that came with it I would get spotty signal when on the lower deck and would cause my VPN client to drop.

2. Linksys High Gain Antenna for R-SMA Connectors

Added this antenna and took care of the dead spots.

3. Linksys Wireless-G Exterior Access Point

Like the other Linksys gear got this as schwag. Installed it in a discrete spot on the back of the house and have only tried it with a jerry rigged LAN run. Will wait till its not so ungodly cold outside before I start drilling holes in the house.

4. Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Wi-Fi Finder

Pretty trick to scan for wireless networks and see if they're secure or not and display their SPID.

5. Microsoft Finger Print Reader

Kind of neat that you can use it to replace your passwords, down side is (at least for me) is its easy to forget your passwords.

6. Logitech diNovo k/b & mouse

VERY cool bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Very low latency from the keyboard and nice that the numeric pad is separate.

7. Plantronics Discovery Bluetooth headset

This thing is TINY (roughly the size of a pinky finger) but has unbelievable audio quality.

I bought some electronic gizmos last summer which cost a few bucks so I took a chill pill until xmas which brings me up to my most recent purchases.

On xmas eve I bought a Canon S2IS.

And 3 days ago I decided to give the cell phone game another try after about 3yrs of not having one and bought, well the phones were free actually, so I just had to sign up with Telus on a family plan.

2 LG 200's

sofar so good. Some of my last summer electronics brought me to the brink of opening the front door and booting the fukkin thing on to the street.

You better stock up on that finger print reader in case it ever fucks up and you never get access to your shit again.

By all the reviews a very trick camera! How do you find it and would you ever shell out the extra dough to get a DSLR with removable lenses?

LMAO......sorry but no. Unless of course you're kindly neighbor is running a access point with and an SMA antenna connector and you can convince him/her to install a new antenna.

All I'm using it for are sites like PERB, Calgary Herald and the like. Passwords for personal banking, online trading are still kept in my mellon.

Bought this this weekend

The only problem is that now I need to get at least one more of those...

Camera works great and fun to use. 12x zoom kicks ass, VGA quality video is very good, and it's not to expensive to own and start using. Although I will say if your serious about pics you need something more like SWG.

OMG... I, like... SO want to come over to your house to play with your toys ;). I haven't even unpacked my Airport yet and my wifinder keychain's batteries are dead... Well, so is my laptop's battery, so like I could just find and use an open signal or anything anyway. Bah.

(Of course, you probably have a WEP key anyway... )

Nice! In hindsight I wish I'd had waited for the D50. Does everything (and MUCH more) then what I want out of my D70 and could have saved a few bucks.

Oh, and those are a lot of studio lights......why would you need all that horse power to take outdoor shots of little rodents in Stanley Park? ;)

If I could unload my 8700 for a decent price I'd prob replace it with that Canon PS. Fucking technology!

Thats something that still amazes me. Driving home from downtown last week I'd press the scan button when parked at a red light.....would always find anywhere from 2 to 7 unsecured wireless networks. Granted some were with a SPID like "Joe's Coffee" so they've been set up for legit free access but some of them had to be people who just pulled the router out of the box and started using it without enabling any security.

for studio lights, check out the Alian bee line up.

Very high quality and well priced.

about half the cost of most high end studio lites.
I have 4 of them and swear they are the best thing since sliced bread.

The D50 rocks as well.
Also have one of them.

it is better than my D100 or my D70...and cheaper.
the 100 was mega bucks when i bought it and is crap compared to the 50 IMHO...so lite and easy to use.

Do you radio slave your lights?

some new toys that have been added to my tickle trunk

VTech i5858 and i5808 handsets

The sound quality on both the speaker phone and handsets is great. Lots of cool ringtones already installed and you can upload your own. Neat application to synch your PC and add speed dial entries.

Creative Zen MicroPhoto

The first MP3 player I owned was a Creative Labs Nomad and a gracious description would be to call it a piece of shit. I was recently looking for a small MP3 player that would take up the minimal amount of space in my briefcase and provide the ability to store some of my favorite CD's. I picked up a Sandisk c150 and after dicking around for 3 days to get its software to work i said fuck it an took it back. Aside from the shitty PC software the UI is also shit. Checked out cnet and the Creative Zen Microphoto had good reviews so thought I'd pick one up and give it a whirl.

Color me impressed! Desktop software is kick ass, I find the unit's UI easier to use then ipod and the sound quality kicks ass!

Canon Powershot SD700

This is my third Canon compact digital camera and I continue to be more and more impressed with their product. Great quality pics, easy to use features. :)
