The situation that is before me is I have the good fortune of being able to get my hands on some older LP's for transfer to cd's. so the questions at hand are One what programs should I be looking at? and two is there any special equipment I should be needing other than a high quality turn table?
thanks for the help guys

sort of the way I was thinking but I do have a turn table.
as for the format I was thinking of downloading straight to a computer and then burning disks.

holly fukk man there is like a thousand ways to do this. First a turntable. IMO since you really don't want to listen to the records and just record them why spend hundreds of dollars on extra gear like a phono pre-amp.

Then software. When I transfered some audio cassettes to a my comp I just needed a straight transfer, no fukkin around. I used audacity. Worked good. If you need more control after the recording for editing then shit like wavelab.

Vancouver - sort of
The Source by Circuit City (previously known as Radio Shack) apparently has a turntable that plays 33 and 45 RPM vinyl and plugs into your PC or Mac via a USB cable. They sold out in the Vancouver area before Christmas and are awaiting further supply. It appears to be similar to the

and avoids the nuisance of dealing across the 49th parallel.

I would be interested to learn of your experience along this line as I also have a stack of vinyl which I would like to transfer to CD.

Anyone else notice the turntable has an "S" arm. Remember the battles in the day over "S" arm and straight arm turntables.
