I had the opportunity to take the bus downtown yesterday. I was surprized at that over 2/3 of the people were not using mask on a bus. Buses were not that crowded, but it was mostly young teenagers that weren't wearing masks. The elderly were wearing masks.
What happens when the bus gets more crowded?

I have finally succumbed and purchased three black masks. This way I can rotate them so I always have a clean mask to wear. Even though I only take the bus a few times a month, I am also a smoker which gives me the notorious smokers cough. If I am out in public and I cough, I can be certain at least one person will shoot me a dirty look. So, I decided to get a mask.

I'm thankful that my work allows me to work from home so I can avoid public transit. I can't imagine myself to be on a crowded bus or skytrain even if most people are wearing masks.

Nothing will happen if the bus gets too crowded. It's up to the driver discretion if they want a standing loaded bus or a sitting loaded bus... That's why TransLink advise you to wear a mask if you cannot safely social distance from each other. If you are not comfortable with the amount of people. You can wait for the next bus. I believe if the bus seats are all taken, the driver CAN put the "sorry, bus full" sign.. and skip stops until someone rings the bell. ... But again.. it's up to your bus driver.
