I know most polls are posted in the lounge but I don’t have access to that area
It’s a legit question , so I hope posting this in 411 instead is ok

Downtown is a pain in the ass because of the traffic and parking situation. I’m pretty sure most of us live outside the downtown core.
I always wonder if the reason for such a concentration is a greater likelihood of capturing the lunch time professional demographic and what that data might look like with more people living further out and more people working from home.

Seeing downtown with that many votes is surprising.]
Not surprising to me at all

To start with, it's one of the most densely populated areas in the Lower Mainland, if not the most.

It's likely one of the areas with the highest income and net worth levels as well.

It is easily accessible from other parts of Vancouver, whether by car, public transit, bike, or other means (also high net worth areas)

Many people commute to downtown for work. Don't overlook the lunch break pooners and hybrid workers.

Many people visit downtown for events and activities on weekends, even weekdays and other occasions.

Many of those who visit Vancouver for work, vacation, or tourism choose to stay in downtown or the surrounding areas.

Sure, parking and traffic can be a hassle, but if you know your way around and what times to avoid driving, you can dodge most of it.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more options. While many independent ladies do have incalls downtown, a lot aren’t available for same-day appointments. Most agencies have locations in the downtown area, but in my opinion, those that don’t are missing out (though that could just be my personal bias). Also, there aren't really any good massage parlours or walk-in shops downtown.

Kerrisdale, Arbutus Ridge, and Point Grey arent 10 mins from downtown. Thats where the people with real money live. They dont want to be close to the chaos of downtown and they can afford some land rather than just an apartment downtown. And West Vancouver is one of the richest towns in North America

Not trying to split hairs, but I wealth can be counted by net worth or by income.

If you’re counting income then BC has 3 of the top 10 earning postal codes in Canada as defined by median income (as of 2024):

2. Shaughnessy: $250,000
8. English Bay: $180,000
10. Kitsilano: $140,000

As far as net worth goes, the highest net worth BC as far as the median value is Horseshoe Bay at $2.9 Million.

Logic would suggest those are places you would want to hang a shingle if you’re running an incall or MP, but I’m assuming that a lot of those folks don’t want to do that kind of business in their neighborhood.

It is also a hassle getting over the bridge to downtown from those swanky areas. Just a huge lineup getting onto Burrard or Cambie. I remember the outlook group having a place in Chinatown off Main that was super convenient.

I used to live in Point Grey until recently, 10 minute drive to downtown.
Also used to live in Arbutus Rigde 10-15 minutes drive downtown
Currently own and live in house in Shaughnessy, less than 10 mins to downtown

None of those times are true between 7am and 7pm. And those are the most sensible hours to go poon. Currently a 14 min drive from PG to DT for example. At 3am i can get from Richmond to DT in 10 mins but that doesnt seem fair to say now does it?
