Projects Intercept/ D-Line: Joint Police Operation Targeting Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking in Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Counter Exploitation Unit and the RCMP Human Trafficking Unit, with support from the Manitoba Criminal Intelligence Centre of Manitoba Justice, conducted a Joint Forces Operation targeting sexual exploitation and human trafficking in the City of Winnipeg. This coordinated investigation, which took place November 12 to November 15, aimed to disrupt street-level and online sexual exploitation activities.

Over the course of this operation, 32 adult males between the ages of 18-75 were arrested for Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration or Communicating in Any Place for That Purpose, contrary to Criminal Code. The arrests occurred across multiple locations within the City of Winnipeg.

As part of the enforcement actions, 15 vehicles were seized under Section 242.2(3) of the Highway Traffic Act, which allows for the impoundment of motor vehicles used in prostitution-related offences.

All accused individuals were released on Undertakings to appear in court at later dates.

Police made contact with 25 individuals working within the sex trade industry, ensuring their safety and offering resources.

This operation reflects the continued commitment of Manitoba law enforcement to proactively combat sexual exploitation and human trafficking. It shows the value of inter-agency collaboration to address these crimes and protect vulnerable individuals.

Our commitment to preventing exploitation within Winnipeg is ongoing, but everyone has a role to play in promoting safety for all.

If you have information regarding exploitation concerns in your community, please contact the Counter Exploitation Unit at 204-986-3464, RCMP Human Trafficking Unit at 431-335-5685 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org. In the case of an emergency, call 911.

They harass customers and do nothing to actually stop trafficking, which has to go after those responsible. If they were serious about it, they would book sessions with any traveling or potential at risk provider and offer assistance, not bust a guy trying to get laid who has zero idea the lady he's booking is trafficked or just trying to make a living. This is another reason to fix the bloody laws.

These types of press releases always include something like 'Police made contact with 25 individuals working within the sex trade industry, ensuring their safety and offering resources."

They never mention that 0 accepted the offered help and that all 25 were pissed at having their livelihoods interrupted and threatened by the police action...

I would appreciate hearing comments from the ladies on the board. I am sure that there is some value in what the police are doing, and that some may benefit from it, though I think they would be in the minority and for the most part all it does is hurt the legit ladies. As was mentioned, if LE targeted those trafficked and the traffickers, then this would be of value. The approach LE is taking is more akin to going after the guy on the street buying drugs (sorry, not the best comparison) but leaving the dealer and the drug lords alone.

Such a water of time, effort, money just to ruin someone’s life. And quite literally helping no one and achieving fuck all except a self induced pat on the back
I saw a facebook post, and most of the people clearly hated anyone that pays for sex. Personally I think they care less about the women, than their idea that paying for sex is a serious crime. Their view of sex is that it belongs only in a very narrow band of acceptible practices, and anything outside of that is evil.
