It's been a good site for a very long time with some necessary house cleaning of trolls, drama queens and those who had an entitled attitude. I give props to the mods and admin for slugging through the BS. From late winter til recently it's been a 180 degree shift daily ranging from very clever, astute threads/posts to plenty of face palms and I'd be saying wtf??
I'm not in favour of any Politically correct BS. I like to post like I speak to others. I try not to offend people but don't fluff up my speech at all. Any of the SP or pooners who have met me will hopefully say "yup, that's how BBB is". As far as the humour goes; I love a good joke whether it's clustered with F Bombs or none at all. My favourite comedian growing up was Red Skelton and as adult it's been Jerry Seinfeld; neither ever said a blue joke ever. Still, I enjoy Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Russell Peters who all pepper their routines with the N word and stuff that would make some people cringe.
The point with humour is there is a time and place for everything. We all have heard dead ** insert your dead type of person here ** or offensive religious joke or offensive relative joke. Thing is, we wouldn't tell those jokes to intentionally offend in that particular element. At least, I am able to put on those brakes when required.
At least these days and I suppose it's true with TERB and MERB that non regional Mods are deployed. Otherwise there would be plenty of retaliation for past differences.

It's not like hearing these jokes slowly destroys your entire sense of self worth or anything. Like you say, people who can't stand it should just "get the fuck out". I guess the only problem will be that this board won't exist anymore once all the ladies get the fuck out and take their advertising dollars elsewhere, because they weren't "adult" enough to deal with paying 100 dollars a month to support a board that makes jokes about murdering them.

I've seen the Internet since its inception. Used Netscape and taught myself html/CSS/VB and etc etc.
Internet has always been a toxic place, and it's hard to Mod it (just ask 4chan... Or the darkweb lol)
The libertarian in me feels like freedom of speech should prevail, and any sort of censorship (especially just the ones you dislike, I've seen plenty of bullying in the few weeks I've been on the board and often they aren't called out on), can be a slippery slope.
However, the human side of me also despises certain topics (mental illness, sexual assault, cancer, suicide, race stereotypes), I damn near fired a guy for making a lame cancer joke.. As any survivor or family member that has survived a major illness (mental or physical) will attest, it is not a funny subject and I do not wish upon my worst enemy.
And here we are: I cannot understand but I can appreciate how "uncool" it is to joke about dead hookers (or dead babies for those that has had miscarriages or unfortunate, but very necessary abortions).
I'll concede to the PERB MOD/FRED successor's decision.

T8E is a valued contributor here, even though I remember differences in opinions when he just joined. It took a while to get used to his sense of humor as well.
He never appeared to be disrespectful towards women. SPs seem to get along with him too.

I like threads where ideas get challenged. I like my opinions being challenged. Makes me think. Name calling is what little children do.

Everyone here is saying 'I've got thick skin and nothing offends me.... I support free speech, etc.'. That should tell you everything you need to know about the outlook from the general population here - it's not that they mean to disrespect or be rude, but in their eyes nothing is offensive to them, so they CAN'T understand how it would be offensive to others, or even if they do understand, they overlook the fact rather easily. A good portion of the posters in The Lounge also post reviews, where the culture of ignorance is at a rather high level (of course they think otherwise, same reasoning), so it can be understood that the behavior and perspectives would be the same across other discussions.
Mods do a fairly good job with the petty arguments otherwise.
