I can't believe Obama didn't hammer away more at Romney and the tax breaks he wants the wealthy to maintain. Even when Obama talked about the tax breaks that oil companies get, Romney turned the tables very effectively to comment that while he is also in favor of energy efficient initiatives, Obama has given tax breaks to companies like the bankrupt Solyndra that would amount to 50 years worth of tax breaks for oil and gas companies. Those numbers could be a pile of horse shit but he said it authoritatively and Obama did not have a rebuttal.
And I did not like that even Obama is now referring to the healthplan as Obamacare. He has huge room for improvement in the next round.
Thing is Obama did hammer away at the $5T tax breaks and the $2T Military spending increase. All Romney did was deny it even though for the past 12 - 18 Months that is exactly what Romney has been proposing.

What was Obama to do? Say liar liar pants on fire? You could see the look on his face that he didn't know what to do with Romney. It was apparently that Romney came for a debate and Obama was out manoeuvred in this first debate.

Perhaps he is playing rope a dope. We know eventually Romney will step on his dick and give Obama an opening to nail him.

On a side note, I didn't like Jim Lehrer's Moderation at all and he was way too weak with both of the debaters. You have to have someone firm that will stop the interrupting and going overtime etc.

Romney has never denied his plan to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. All along he has argued that taxing the wealthy will hurt job creation. Obama mentioned it but not nearly as well as Bill Clinton did during his speech at the recent Democrat convention...history clearly shows that taxing the wealthy is a better plan for the economy than hoping they create jobs with the breaks they receive.

Romney is a business man. He can do the math. He will reduce the deficit and it's obvious that his agenda is to slash program after program and not just those that the US has to borrow from China to pay for. He'll slash programs left right and center and make cuts to education all the while increasing military spending and not even blink.

It was his wedding anniversary, Michelle was probably pissed at him for scheduling the debate on that day and he knew he wouldn't be getting any when he got home.

Sorry, couldn't resist ... now back to serious politics.

Wonder if he gave Bill a call to see if he still had Monica's number ???????????:D

Romney was the underdog and came out swimming tonight. The question is whether this is good enough to persuade the independent voters to change their minds.

Let's hope so...it's time for CHANGE! Once again...:clap2:

But, a thinking person only has to do the arithmatic and realize that Romney cutting Big Bird ($450 million a year) from the federal budget is not going to pay for 2 trillion in additional defense funding.
Oops! Elmo is hiding now. Looks like he's the next target of the Cookie Monster. lol :pound:

Obama's Rope-A-Dope strategy reminds me of that famous " Rumble In The Jungle " fight between Ali and Foreman in '74. Big George Foreman came out smokin' in the start but Ali brought out his A game during the later rounds. And the outcome is history. In political strategy, you do your damage the closest time to the election. Watch for Obama to throw 47% more punches in the next debate and bring Romney to the Cayman Islands. ;)
The Rope-A-Dope strategy surely works. Rumble In the Jungle II. Obama Rocks!!! :thumb:

Btw, besides the upcoming Presidential Elections, there's something in the ballot in Colorado and Washington State - and based on the surveys looks like Marc Emery is gonna be happy. :) :)
