I guess the question for people like wilde is - "Just what does it take for you to NOT vote Liberal?" If ten years of arrogance, waste, lies, mismanagement and downright theft doesn't do it I suppose a Liberal would have to break into your house and shoot your dog. Perhaps even that wouldn't be enough because you'd fear a Conservative or NDPer might burn the house down, too. I'm not asking anyone to vote Conservative, but by voting Liberal is to sanction and reinforce the Liberal misdeeds and allow them more to come. Why not vote Green? Not voting at all would even be better than voting Lib.
First off EVERY party, no matter what they say will eventually waste your money, so that to me is not an issue. Secondly forget about the politicians for a second and look at this philosopicaly.
How do you live your live, and how does each Parties philosophy interfere with the way I wish to continue living my life?
1) Taxes: no matter who we put into power, when I cash my cheque it'll probably look the same.
2) Social programs: no matter who you put into power I will have access to health care, E.I. and education for my children. When this changes I'll re-evaluate my choice.
3) Military: If it were up to me, we would continue our role as a peace-keepers, and I don't see the need to increase military spending. I also don't want to be dragged into conflicts with the US, so I want a party who reflects this.
4) Marijuana: I have been known to smoke a little now and then and I want a party in power who, if nothing else, will look the other way, not enforce 'their' moral viewpoint on me.
5) Religion: As with above, I don't want rules created on the bases of morality, they should be based on common sense. For example the hobby we all enjoy here, abortion and same-sex marriage(if that's what you're into)
I'm not going to make my choice based as a knee-jerk reaction based on what the medea is telling me.
When I look at the issues that matter to me, and the way I live my life, I cannot in good conscience Vote Conservative. I could however live with an NDP govn't, I'd even vote for them but I feel I would be wasting my vote.
And unlike those of you who feel it is your 'duty' to change how someone is going to vote, I would never suggest that anyone vote for any party they wouldn't be happy with.
