Going to be in NS and PEI in a couple weeks - curious if anyone's been before, and if so, what you would recommend as must-see locations?

In Halifax for 3.5 days; already planning to drive out to Peggy's Cove, and tour Halifax harbour extensively, but not quite sure what to see in Charlottetown - there for about 2.5 days

Suggestions, travel buffs?

Near the water
Confederation House in Charlottetown is interesting, if you like Canadian history. Anne of Green Gables farm, especially if you read the books. Also, Kejimkujik (sp?) Nat. Park is some great canoeing (S. of Halifax). Wolfeville (or just about any place on the Bay of Fundy) has some really cool mudflats that get exposed at low tide. Can get really dirty there!

you should ask on the friendly board to people from there, might get more info. No nightlife other than pubs in Pei. Nova Scotia has one sc and its in Darmouth not much going on there but downtown Halifax has a few decent clubs G lounge or the second floor of the palace, avoid pacifico or the dome. My favorite restaurant in Halifax would be il mercatto (they have one in Bedford too) if you love italian food you will love that one

I loved every inch of NS and PEI - personal highlights include:

NS - Harbourfront (including a ride on the Harbour Hopper), Peggy's Cove, Pier 21, The Citadel, Formal Gardens, and especially the Mahone Bay area - like Chester, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. Gorgeous...

PEI - the entire province is a dream. Cavendish is where the Anne Of GG stuff is, and worth a day or two alone. Just make sure you have money to get off the island... LOL

Thanks for the info, folks!

I've roughly planned out some sites in Halifax and PEI, along with some great restaurants. Gonna get my fill of lobster, that's for sure LOL

One thing I've discovered is how f'ing expensive hotels are there (decided to forego the B/B and stay downtown), especially with all the taxes thrown in.

Tonnes of Canadian history in NS/PEI, more than I ever realized.

i think I ate some form of seafood every single day I was there... loved every minute of it, and if I could, I would move to the Maritimes....

I grew up in the annapolis valley.Don't take the 101.Get off and take the old #1 highway through all the small towns along the way.At some points you'll feel like you've gone back in time.
