"Some kind of compensation" is more something I could work with, even if I might not get behind it completely. Depending on the situation, I could see leaving $20-$50, perhaps (whatever amount; would be open to consideration) and that would be as much courtesy as compensation IMO.
We keep going back to restaurants, so I'll keep with the theme (though it applies to almost any business I think)... Ask yourself: when was the last time you were ever given a free meal after something was unsatisfactory? It's happened to me a couple times - not often, but a few. More frequently, I've had items taken off the bill, or a free dessert, or something.
Now, ask yourself: when has an escort, agency or indy or whatever, tried to "make it right" for you? For me, the answer is once & once only. I was offered a discounted session at what was already my favourite spot, and even though it was well-deserved, I refused to accept the discount; truly the gesture was everything I needed, as it was firm acknowledgement and a physical attempt towards reparations.
With that in mind, why the heck should it be demanded that you or I or any customer pay full price for time we didn't take? All time is money, not just escorts, and I've NEVER heard of a girl offering any completely free sessions for ghosting last minute and wasting a customer's time.
It would maybe be different if one was replying to an ad that clearly communicated exactly what the person looked like, face, body, age, everything, and which gave an honest account of what could one could expect. I understand full well that doing such would cede so much discretion and privacy of the women working, and I would never realistically expect any of them to do as I've presented, however, if we're going to walk in somewhat blind (which we all almost always do when meeting a new sp) then I suggest that it's only reasonable that sometimes we're not going to be attracted to the person on the other side of the door, at no fault of our own. So why should we have to try and fuck someone we aren't attracted to and don't want to be with? And moreover to pay for it? Just because we responded to an ad with a blurred face and a false age, with pictures that may or may not be of the person we're meeting? Lunacy.
If a girl says to you "I don't care if you're paying, I don't want to have sex with you" do you expect her to do so anyways? Yet we should, and we should pay for it- the more I flesh out my thoughts in this post, the crazier it seems! So I'll just stop there, and reiterate a final point:
We're all adults, and hopefully most of us decent people. I would like to think in those situations, a token "hey, look, I'm very sorry & I know it's awkward AF, but you closely resemble a family member and this just won't work for me. Not your fault, and again I'm very sorry--please let me offer you 40 dollars for the inconvenience" ought to be more than enough in most situations.
