Billions at stake, and NFL ratings continue to plummet.
Down 8% last year, and the first few weeks this year down an average of about 12%.
Reasons? I think it's a combination of boring games, and highlight packages. Why waste three hours of minimal action, to get one or two highlight plays that will be shown on a - highlight package?
Personally, I'm also sick of showboating after every friggin' play. Hey, brainiac, that tackle you made, or those 12 yeards you gained haven't won the game. Another factor might be the hype the NFL thrives on, has proven to be over-blown for most games.
Probably some Trump spill-over, too and people are sick of politics in sport. Millionaire athletes are as annoying as millionaire actors using their jobs as a platform for their cause. They have every right to do so, but it risks turning fans off.
