Necroposting rules?

I was just reading the thread "old thread got banned" and there's a discussion about a 6 month limit on threads. That sounds like a good policy but the mod indicated that it's in the forum rules and to read them, but i can't find it anywhere. There are 21 rules listed and none of them mention "necroposting" as far as i can see.

Where can i find this so i can get some guidance? I'm afraid I've inadvertently violated this rule in the past.

On the same note, why not automatically close any 6 month old threads? At the moment it appears to be on a case by case basis. If the intention is ţo keep people from dragging out old discussions why not just close them?

1) Do not "necropost". Once a thread is more than 6-8 months old, leave it alone. Post a new thread and link to the older one if you must.
This is the original version, we’ve amended it to just 6 months.
2) We’ve asked numerous times for threads to be locked automatically.

Thank you for your response. The Newbie Guide was new to me, and i see the 6 month limit mentioned

As far as the Perb Rules, i had those and read them many times. This is not mentioned anywhere so can that be fixed? I think it would be a great idea.
