Hello all and mods.

Sorry but I have a question to clarify narco postings since I have been guilty of searching some one then posting a question or comment. (One more and I’m banned for life)

I coulnt find in the rules how old a post is to consider it narco

I just read some where it’s 6 months,
Is that 6 months from when the last person commented on a tread or 6 months from original posting ?

. I don’t want to make the same mistake again.
Love the site and love all the info

Thx

Well just commenting, first I don't think we have many narco's here, maybe but you mean NECRO which refers to dead. And yes it is six months from the last post. I think the corollary in this is that someone may post over a necro post to try to revive the old thread and folks may then post onto that but more than likely that will be closed. if you want an old thread revived in some way, link to the old thread instead then post.

It’s 6 months from the last post, its purpose is to stop people from dragging up 10 or even 20 year old threads. And you wouldn’t have been banned permanently depending on how close the infractions were it would have been between 3 days and 3 weeks.

OP has no less than 11 fractions in 3 years, with 5 of them for necro posting. I'd love to be understanding, but at some point, you either learn or move on. The time to look into what happened and how to avoid bans was about 2 years ago.

I may be incorrect but I think part of the the confusion about necro posting stems from using both Perb and Terb. The eastern cousins don’t seem to have any restrictions on resurrecting the dead as far as I can see. The long dead seem to pop up all the time over there.

You are correct the necro posting rule was introduced on PERB because this was the last of the ERB group to go online and was using a smaller server and dragging up old threads made it work harder. Eventually after many upgrades the rule became obsolete but the decision was made to keep it to stop members from dragging up old useless posts.

Is there a way for the internal system to auto delete lounge threads that are, let use, older than 6 or 8 months? I don't know how it works so, just asking.

Rather not delete, but how about auto locking older, than 6 month old reviews.

I forgot about the rule when I revived my own post looking for my initial review to re-affirm my recent experience with the same SP.
