Ok, normally I wouldn't do this, but damn!!!
My review:
Last night, I got a call from somebody out of town. Interested in meeting with me. I told him to call today to set something up.
This afternoon, he called and set up an appointment. At that time, I gave him very detailed instructions on how to get here. Street by street, turn by turn. I included landmarks. Very easy to see landmarks.
Minutes before the set time, I get a phone call that he is entering Airdrie, heading north. He was actually IN Calgary, and somehow ended up in Airdrie.
Ok... Sure...
After politely saying, "You need to turn around in Airdrie, and head south, back into Calgary until you get to Glenmore Trail. Don't turn off until you get to Glenmore Trail, and take the exit heading east." I proceeded to give him VERY detailed instruction from there. After all, it is only two more turns on two very easy to find streets.
Keep in mind that he is already late by 30 minutes, and I have turned two other calls down in the meantime.
Now 30 minutes late, he calls again. Congrats, your actually within 150ft of my place and just need a little further coaching. If I could see around the corner, I could see him! Coaching him through the last 150ft, I hang up the phone, expecting him here in 2 minutes or so. Five minutes later, he calls again, "Jenn, I can't find you. I'm at the railroad tracks." Buddy!!! Have you been drinking on your trip? You went the complete opposite direction I told you to go. Now your nowhere near my place.
I finally told him not to bother. Your close to 40 minutes late and failed to follow instructions which a child could follow. Three main roads, lit up landmarks, and you came within 150ft of the house, which I clearly described to you and gave you the number of.
Now I understand that somebody from out of town might have some difficulty finding streets in a city like Calgary. But these are three common, and well marked streets. Big green reflective signs on each street. If you can't follow three main roads, and make three simple turns, I'm not interested.
99% of the time, there is never a problem finding the place. I have NEVER had anybody get so lost and annoy me so much, EVER. Most gents are A1 awesome. This one took the cake! I did everything except email him a Crayola drawing of streets, buildings and trees. I'm sure glad not everybody is like that!
My new rule I made to myself: Give instructions once. If they have a problem, help them once. Only because most people are smart enough to get it. For the rest of you who DO know how to follow simple instructions, THANK YOU! Seriousely, THANK YOU!
Repeat? Not bloody likely!
