So as I move along Times' Arrow I can't help but notice skin. Yeah I know we all like to see skin but skin quality. I am of the generation that was told by pretty much all adults to "get out there in the sun and get a tan" and we did not know about sunscreen etc. So yeah I have all kinds of sun damage that is pretty much irreversible.

But what I do notice now is the difference in skin quality. And frankly Asian women in my general sphere of influence are head and shoulders above most others when it comes to having really nice skin. And Korean gals are a cut above. A gal pal told me they call it K Skin and apparently its the hot thing in women's skin care to achieve a K Skin look. K products are being bought up by the ship loads. I think you need K DNA but what does a aging pooner really know of skin care? Hell my skin care regime up to about a year ago was to use water.

Anyway just thinking of running my hands along silky smooth female skin got me onto this little post.

Moisturizer is the key. Any your skin type and how it takes exposure to sun and heat.
The problem is not tans from years ago, but getting burnt over and over(exposure to UV), depends on skin type. I don't know when they started UV forecast, but that sure reminds me to get skin block and bring moisturizer along in case I 'm overexposed to sun.

I agree with this completely. Asian women have never meet a tan that got on purpose. K girls take smooth skin to another level with care.

I may be biased with my opinion, as I am biracially Black and Indigenous, which generally are two ethnicities who not only age gracefully, but are also body hairless and are melanated to protect our skin from sun damage.
Diet/water intake, exercise, little substance abuse and a thorough cleansing and moisturizing regimen also contributes to soft, smooth and blemish free skin. I always admired my great grandmother's skin and she attested that to washing her face with Noxzema and I too love the refreshing feeling it leaves my skin and the reminiscent scent. I'm about to turn 47 and I am still wrinkle free and have taught body skin. This Beige, don't age.!!

As you said, sun damage to skin is irreversible and it's usually disregarded and taken for granted with youth. I even find the sun rays are intensifying as time progresses and I even protect my darker skin with sun screen.
I'm curious to know what skin care regimen you may have now adopted at this point in your life. In my experience, males have usually been pretty basic.

Yes, lady with nice skin is always a treat. As for us guys, it's never too late to start a skin regime of any sort. Just start with a moisturizer, use it regularly and wait for the results. Might surprise you.

I use random moisturizers...kinda whatever is on sale and then stick to one that I like. Nivea is a nice one. Goes on easy and minimal oily hands afterwards.

From my what I can gather from the women I know, it's sun and alcohol. Both will age the skin and appearances like crazy. There are other issues associated with over indulgences with both. Same with men. Cut out both for 6 months you'll lose years off your appearance.

It breaks my heart to see people roasting on the beach for short term vanity.

0. up to being educated somewhat on the topic and having a scare with a couple of irregular moles, anywhere from 15 to 30 sunscreen and now and then some nivea, but mostly just water. I mean I'm a guy.
Post education again somewhat educated ...
1. 50 SPF sunscreen, some Australian stuff was recommended to me, Blue Lizard seems to work well for me.
2. After showering, hyaluronic acid and Cereve.
3. Night if I can remember to do it, retinol and Cereve.
4. I have been dragged into the Ordinary store and told to buy certain other things but the hyaluronic acid and retinol were the chemistries that made sense to me to keep the collagen being produced.
It has made a difference!! and my fingernails seem to be growing like crazy.

A retired letter carrier I know has melanoma on his face. Despite being outside for hours he hated wearing hats and didn’t use sunscreen.

Well they must be doing something right in Asia, because in Korea, Japan, China the sun is blistering with high UV and the ladies very often have milky white skin. Just WTF are they doing? Cause it looks so beautiful.

It all goes back to those of us of certain age, you know, before we 'got it' that there's UV in those tanning rays of the sun. I can't begin to recall the number of sun burns I had growing up or as a teen.

Asian diets are also seafood heavy with all the omega benefits that brings. Also, there is very little dairy in the diet with all the inflammation it causes.

Europen, korean and Austraian sunscreens are superior to Canadian or American sunscreens, thier chemicals are far superior, the chemicals in ours are still from the late 80's, they degrade in the sun, always use spf 50, everyday, even on cloudy days, UVA the aging one, goes through clouds, ive been doing this for 2 yrs and also using prescription Tretnoin, for wrinkles, sun damage, and yes korean skincare is amazing
