Not sure if I'm going to go or not, but I decided to secure three season tickets just wondering if I'm the only one who thinks this could take soccer to the next level?

your mom says hi.
the team in toronto gets a lot of support.

i'm a little skeptical just with the nature of this city in general. we couldn't support the grizzlies, the ravens (lacrosse) and win or lose most people seem to find something to bitch about with the canucks. i guess time will tell.

the consensus at my work place when we talked about it was that none of us would be seasons tickets but we'd go catch the occasional game, especially if the waterfront stadium happens.

I think the waterfront location is the key. The whitecaps did pretty well at Empire Stadium, but not so well in Burnaby. If the games are cheap and easily accessible, people will be more apt to fill the seats.

For the short term, they'll be playing at BC Place, not Swangard.

The fact that they'll have 2 rivals from the beginning (Seattle, Toronto...you might even count Portland) bodes well.

(and it's MLS, not MSL :) )

Location is key and they should do fine with the new stadium whether it be the Waterfront one or BC Place. Swangard was okay but not the best location and they could have easily drawn more people. Not to say that they will sell out like Toronto (they have a larger population base) but Vancouver has a strong history and being in the top tier league will draw more fans.

Vancouver did fine in supporting the Grizzlies despite zero on court success. The NBA recommended a moron GM in Stu Jackson - calling him our version of a Mike Milbury would be a complement. The NBA also let the new owner lie his way out of town. Guess Heisley is not making enough with averaging 12,000 fans per game and now has to borrow from the league.

As for the the Ravens - lacrosse had a good beginning but there were problems with financing and the ownership group. They ran out of options and money.

If I wanna watch diving and faking injuries, I'd rather watch HB40 and TS have a MMA fight :p
Hey, HB's short, but the little fucker's wirey! HB wins by tap-out! :p

If the waterfront staduim gets built, I am in for season tickets. Soccer is about atmosphere. The MLS team should stay at swangard than move to BC Place.
