If anyone does so, make sure to use a VPN. The movie companies track the torrent and then make Telus or Shaw send you one of those nasty threatening copyright letters. Even for porn.
I have received so many warnings from Telus I have long ago lost count. A dog that is all bark and no bite :) They are legally obligated to pass on the warning from the content owner but not obligated to actually do anything.

My friend told me about those warnings. They are empty threats because the way they found out id kind of illegal so they cannot pursue it. But in America its different. They shut off his internet connection mid streaming brooklyn 99 lol. Just ignore any emails or threats, they can't do shit.

As for movies, I saw A Simple Favour. It was a fun and twisty little thriller with a good cast.

The Great Battle is a korean period piece war film that has some impressive action set pieces. Get fast and loose with historical accuracy but lots of action.

Huge Marvel geek, especially with all the movies out in the Cinematic Universe.
Avengers Infinity War was my favorite movie of 2018. I've legit watched this movie like 10 times. For a fan who's seen ever Marvel movie out in the Cinematic Universe they've built over 10 years. This was the perfect culmination of that build up.

The next Avengers film in 2019 is going to be an EPIC end.

Watche Mission Impossible #6 - can't remember what the subtitle is. What a piece of shit. Same plot as the first five, chase scenes tha go on forever, ludicrous dialogue. So Tom Cruise does his own stunts. BFD.

They turn him into a super hero who can't be harmed, so what's the point? He literally crashed a helicopter into a mountain, continues to fight and saves the world. Oh yeah, he bruises his ribs so he can't laugh.

The ending was actually funny because it was so stupid. Sure glad I didn't pay to watch this over-hyped steaming pile.

One hour and thirty four minutes......I'll NEVER get......10 out of 10 on my YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNN-O-METER
I can't disagree- except it was 2:34 of nodding off.....
Best thing about this flick is how it still made my copy of FF #52 multiply in value.

I gotta say Netflix has really upped it's game. Lot's of in house produced tv shows and movies worth viewing.

I saw this movie based on a true story about the Israel - Egypt hostilities in the 1970's.

VIFF: A Land Imagined

The film is called "A Land Imagined" though another translation could be easily been "Dream Land". It is a film that is a direct contrast to "Crazy Rich Asians", and exposes the exploitation of migrant workers used in the Singapore reclamation projects.

It bills itself as a neo-noir film, in that it starts with a crime in a tense and gritty world, and the story is sparse and driven nearly completely by a few characters.

It starts with a pair of detectives investigating the disappearance of migrant worker Wang. The movie quickly cuts back to the story of Wang and how as a migrant worker from China, he is forced to live in squalid and cramped conditions, and is all but held hostage by the company which he owes money to. He spends his sleepless nights with his friend Ajit, a fellow migrant worker from Bangladesh, and at a 24-hour computer cafe where he creeps and befriends the manager Yue, herself a recent transplant from China. One night Ajit goes missing, and Wang fearing the worse desperately investigates his disappearance. Back in the present detective Lok is himself sleepless and starts to mimic and relive Wangs life to try to discover the reasons for his own disappearance. The story takes on a dream like state where both Wang and Luk's sleep deprivation increasingly distorts their reality and reasoning.

The director presents a story of struggle and confinement in one of Asian's great economic marvels and shows the lengths to which Singapore is willing to become and stay one. Literally turning mountains to sand. On first impression the movie meanders a bit and the directors love of interstitial long shots breaks the film up awkwardly. I also thought the story was too open-ended and fraught with convoluted plot devices. Although the more I thought on the characters and the environment, the more connections and symmetry each provides the other I saw. Through the film we see Singapore through the eyes of its sleepless characters and perhaps the city itself as one, walking through a dream haze of what they are, what they can be and what the need to be.

VIFF: Transit

It's a modern take on Casablanca but without the romantic subtext. The lead is Georg, (Franz Rogowski, Germany’s Joaquin Phoenix doppleganger), and it is his story as he tries to escape occupying forces that are sweeping across France. He takes on the identity of a dead writer who he is mistaken for, and uses it to obtain transit visa for himself to safer climes, in this case: Mexico. As he makes his way across the country and national burecracies he encounters and becomes involved in the lives of people who like himself are trying to sanctuary, but in very different ways.

This is not a story about Nazi Germany, it's a story of the desperate lives of people as they try to escape persecution and eventual execution. Many stories focus on refugees, painted as desperate unwashed masses fleeing across an unprotected border under the cover of night. This is more a story of your neighbhour, or a suburban housewife, or your dentist caught under the closing grasp of an unforgiving society as they try to do everything properly to escape. It is not a story that can be dated or located as it is one that constantly plays out across our history and world, and will continue as our own world drifts closer and closer to a dark future.

VIFF: Burning

Its a korean thriller about a young man whose friend disappears. 90 minutes of pure boredom followed by one of the greatest 60 minutes of psychological tension and suspense. Starring Yoo Ah in and Steven Yeun. I think there is one more showing on Friday at 3pm.

It will also be on dvd in future as it is being released by well go usa

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Great film, well acted and a decent script following the formation of Queen until Freddy Mercury's death.

If you are seeing it, choose the Dolby AVX theatre.

I saw it in IMAX! I suppose the AVX presentation would be the next best way to watch it, since it's no longer playing in IMAX... :p :D

They did take a few liberties with the history and the timeline but yeah, it was great!

Yes they did use creative content vs the real story probably to make it a bit more interesting or coincidental?

Still, it's a great movie with a killer soundtrack. I've already downloaded the Hi Res files.

The Girl in the Spider's Web: Generic and bland 007 film that happens to star Lisbeth Salander. Its not awful but not memorable or very stylish.

Can You Ever Forgive Me?: Melissa McCarthy's turn to serious acting is really good. Her and Richard E. Grant have good chemistry and its a character study of someone stuck who does the wrong thing. She forges letters of famous literary authors for profit.

Ronnie Coleman: The King

Niche film, certainly not for everyone. But if you know who he is, watch it.
He literally destroyed his own body because he pushed himself too far. Sad seeng him hobbling around on crutches.
The comments by his rivals were fascinating. I always hated Cutler but he wasn't such a bad guy after all.

If you like tennis and followed the Borg McEnroe rivalry, this is a great movie to see on iTunes.
